Welcome to Friday, everyone!
I have sad news from Stuttgart: our appointment to get our internet turned on at our apartment didn’t happen so we are still sucking down massive amounts of cellular data (lol).
When I chatted with customer service yesterday, I was told that they had failed to actually schedule a technician for our appointment, and so the first date they could offer this time around was next weekend. That will be almost six weeks since we signed the contract…so we are taking deep cleansing breaths over here (and yes, we realize that this is a first-world problem!).
Despite these hurdles 😉 , I have managed to gather together some of my current favorites for today’s post. I didn’t do much shopping at all while we were living in the hotel, but now that we’re getting settled in our apartment I’m getting back in the swing of things.
First up are these gorgeous slipper shoes from Birdies. I’ve been wanting to try a pair for awhile because people rave that they are so comfortable, and given the German habit of taking street shoes off at the door, I plan to use them as my “house shoes.” In addition to the floral brocade that I ordered, they have some beautiful velvets and other patterns; and they can certainly be worn outdoors as well. They are pricey but from what I’ve read they are worth it (quality over quantity!).
Next up is this hand soap and lotion combo in Capri Blue’s famous Volcano scent. It’s my daughter’s favorite and she likes to burn one of their candles in her room, so I’m always looking for other products in their range. This little set is going to go in our powder room, and the bottles are refillable which is always nice. Also, I found a cleaning spray that they make but it sold out right away; if they restock I’ll post a link.
Amy has a necklace similar to this one, although hers is a Y-style, and ever since I saw her wear it when we had our girls’ weekend at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, I’ve been looking for one like it. This one is around $25 and seems like a great piece to pair with so many fall and winter outfits.
I just ordered this coat; you can never go wrong with a classic camel tan wool coat and it’s on sale for under $120 with free shipping in sizes 00-24. It also comes in seven colors if you’re after a beautiful kelly green or a bright yellow (I have a bright yellow wool coat and get so many compliments whenever I wear it). My friend Becky has it in green and it’s just beautiful on.
I love people-watching here in Europe and especially enjoy seeing what the women are wearing. When we were in Salzburg last weekend, I saw a woman wearing a coat like this over black pants and turtleneck and a casual ponytail and she looked so stylish. Stay tuned as I will be recreating that look!
For lovers of all things blue and white, this set of 4 blue and white ceramic plant markers is just $20; perfect for your kitchen herbs.
Wouldn’t they also make a nice gift for a friend, too?
Here are a few other favorites I’ve ordered lately:
First, this pashmina and silk scarf is a great deal at under $15 and really dresses up my current favorite fall outfit (black cashmere sweater over a crisp white shirt, jeans, and ballet flats or boots).

Next, this set of three reusable shopping totes/cubes comes in a cute nautical stripe and breaks down flat to stow in your trunk when not in use. The set of three is under $18. I carry one to the farmer’s market and this was the first time in my life that I actually had a baguette peeking out of the bag like in the picture below!

It’s cold (like in the 40s!) and rainy here so we have a pretty quiet weekend ahead of us that will include at least one big pot of soup. Have a wonderful fall weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

I so look forward to reading your posts from Germany! I’m living vicariously through you since I’ve been to Germany and really liked it and enjoyed our time there. 🙂
