Fall Shopping {Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Favorites}

You have probably heard the buzz about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale by now, it happens every year in July and we used to cover it extensively. In recent years we’ve tried to step back from encouraging so much consuming, and instead focused more on quality items that stand the test of time. To be honest, I didn’t think I’d write a post about the sale, but when I saw that some things that are my very favorite things I own are included and on sale yet again, I wanted to pull together a post. The Anniversary Sale opens to Nordstrom cardmembers first but now everyone can shop, and just a tip if something is sold out, check back as it may come back in stock.

It’s hard to pick a very favorite thing ever that I have bought at the sale, but I feel like a Barefoot Dreams cardigan is top of the list. These are so cozy, and are a great alternative to a robe as they are less bulky to wear around the house. I have gifted these to all the women in my life and own several cardigans as well as an actual bathrobe too.

Next up is the Zella Live In Leggings. I own several pairs and truly do wear these all the time, and the original ones I bought 6+ years ago are going strong so they are top quality. I prefer this line to the pricier Lululemon for a number of reasons, and think it rivals Lulu for quality and style. You can see the entire Zella selection here. Definitely size up (maybe even two sizes) in the leggings though as I find they run very small. They are discounted to $39 during the sale.

I bought the Wit and Wisdom Bootcut Jeans in 2018 and they still are some of my favorites (though I am sure they are higher-waisted now in the “mom” jean era, which isn’t a bad thing!). These make your legs look so long and the flares are consistently in style. The sale is the time to grab a pair as they are discounted to $58 from $88.

Another favorite item (and I own multiple pairs) is the Moonlight Pajamas, they come in long and short versions and also hold up really well over time. They are super soft and lightweight, I find them very comfortable to sleep in. They have a good selection during the sale at just $40.

I always buy a lot of basics during the sale, including long-sleeve and short-sleeve tees because the prices are so good. I included this long-sleeve top, but I also have several of the Caslon short sleeve tees in different colors, at just $12 it is a good time to stock up.

I tend to get overwhelmed easily when shoe shopping (I somehow missed that gene), but I find this sale is a great place to pick up a new pair for fall each year. I really like these slip on mules in the warm beige and cognac colors and the brass detail is very pretty, they are just $64 right now.

I didn’t purchase my pair of On Cloud running shoes at Nordstrom; hence, I paid much more but there is a reason these shoes are so popular. They quickly became my very favorite shoe to wear around they are SO comfortable. There are several pairs included in the sale if you have a pair on your wishlist.

I bought a pair of Lug Sole boots in the sale two years ago and they have been great in the winter. This pair is on sale for $69 this year, and will be nice to have come fall and winter.

I always love seeing what sweaters are included in the sale since it is an advance sale on the coming fall season fashion. I often pick up one just to have something new to wear, this one is just $29 and comes in several colors. The basic v-neck is hard to beat.

Also, a classic duster cardigan is a core wardrobe essential. These are typically part of the sale, and a great investment piece.

Not a fashion item but still always a favorite, the Bliss Throw is only $19 during the sale. These are a great gift (think ahead for the holidays), I have purchased one for just about everyone in my family, they love them. I have also been stocking up on them during the sale for the last few years to use around our firepit on chilly evenings, they are so cozy and hold up well if you need to wash them.

Nowadays I actually purchase more for my boys and my husband during the sale, it’s a great time to get them stocked up since they aren’t great about shopping for themselves. You can find the men’s section here. I find that you can get great prices on popular brands that my kids like for back to school (like Nike shoes) which saves money in the long run. Of course with Nordstrom shipping and returns are always free which makes life so easy.
