How is everyone enjoying their summer?   My boys are enjoying the time off from school and the baby is getting so big.  I really hate that summer is almost over and that school is starting back up mid August.   On the flip side, I do look forward to having more time to focus on projects, painting, decorating, designing, cooking, prepping, and of course blogging 🙂    The boys are enrolled in a Lego camp this week so I was able to sneak away to share this great piece of furniture I recently purchased.

Remember our trip to Lucketts at the beginning of the summer? {If not, you can read all about our antiquing adventure here } Amy was searching for an old iron bed for her eldest son’s bedroom makeover and I was simply planning to just window shop.  I had no intention of purchasing new furniture but the abundance of amazing pieces makes leaving Lucketts empty-handed a real challenge.  I seriously found something I wanted to buy around each and every corner!

In the end, I grabbed this amazing black cabinet re-finished in milk paint.  The designer/ shop owner is Kara from Vintage Blue and she is amazing!!!  Check out the creative chalk board door and the pretty moss & burlap wreaths in her booth below.  She simply has great style and I am really excited to share more about Kara and her new shop Vintage Blue in a future post.

I love how Kara grouped together old books in shades of white and cream, it really pops on the black shelf.  I hope to do something creative like that with some of my most treasured cookbooks. We recently hosted a ladies night out at the Empty Nest where we decorated old books, it was so much fun and the books came out beautifully.  For inspiration and ideas on how to transform an old book cover using chalk paint, fabric, craft paper, lace and more… read all about it here.

Here is the cabinet in it’s new home… my kitchen.  I decorated it with lots of black and white accents and a few pops of green.  What do you all think about the Butter & Eggs sign?  Should I chalk paint the sign a different color?   Should I leave it as is?  Should I remove it entirely?

I would paint the sign. I’m not a fan of the red against your wall color. I’m not sure what color I would paint it?
