Happy Friday everyone! We’re back to talking about fashion today–but know that if it isn’t your thing, I promise we’ll be back with more decor/DIY as usual.
Last spring I did a post about StitchFix. No doubt you’ve heard of the program {if you are for some reason blissfully unaware that you can get clothes delivered to your door, clothes picked by a stylist, that you try on and return what you don’t want, please let me share that bit of good news 🙂 } and probably know tons of people that love it but maybe a few not so much.
I wanted to circle back on my experience with them. Last week I got a new fix and it made me excited again about the program– as in “please ship me another fix tomorrow” kind of excited… I got the cutest stuff, and my fall fashion got a much needed boost. I mentioned some {non-Stitch Fix} things I already had my eye on for Fall here, if you missed it and are in a shopping mood check it out, the bag alone is such a score!
Anyway, a little background is that I don’t consider myself the most stylish girl. I tend to spend many days in leggings and hoodies while painting and DIY’ing, but I am trying to work on it. Since I no longer go into an office to work on a regular basis, I don’t need as many “big” girl clothes and consequently I haven’t shopped much recently. However, I was getting dressed for a party a few weeks ago and I kind of had that panicky wish-I-had-shopped-a bit-more-for-fun-new-things feeling, I am sure many of you can relate? A “pre-party wardrobe crisis” it could be called! Luckily, I had a long-scheduled StitchFix box arriving a few days later. I also ordered a few new things to have on hand as the holiday season fast-approaches, so I’ll show you those as well.
First, here is a quick look at what was in my latest “fix”:
How about that fur-trimmed vest? I love it! OK, so I have had an extremely positive experience with StitchFix, but I won’t tell you there haven’t been a few bumps. I am such a big fan of the service {I dislike shopping in malls these days, my teenage self would never believe it, but there it is} that I took the time to make it work for me.
I suggest that your StitchFix stylist is like your hairdresser, if you don’t click you need to move on. I have in the past requested a new stylist and once things were switched, I immediately fell back in love with the service. My current person clearly gets me! I also do follow Stitch Fix on social media and let them know when I see something I like via my Pinterest fashion board, after all the more information they have the better they can style you.
I already have plans to wear this vest a variety of places and probably for Thanksgiving dinner, isn’t it cute? It goes places that a full-on, all-fur vest just can’t, you know? It’s really cute with leggings but you can also dress it up.
I always leave very detailed notes in the comments for my next order. For this fix I requested a sweater and some new, dark, ‘untorn’ jeans. I already have the cutest pair of distressed jeans from StitchFix but needed some that were dressier. I consider shopping for jeans to be the equivalent of a dental office visit, but when you wear them ALL the time, they are pretty essential, right? These jeans {above} were perfection, they fit, they have a beautiful dark denim finish and they were delivered right to me {#bestpart}.
Quickly, here are some of my other favorite StitchFix things that I’ve received, I am certain that I wear their clothes more than anything else in my closet; for that reason alone they are well worth their price.
I received this striped sweater toward the end of August, it’s been great during transitional weather. We have 70 degrees out there today, I can still feel fall-like in a sweater but not be too hot.
This gray cardigan is totally my favorite sweater; I wear it so much I have to check myself with a “did I wear this yesterday?” before I put it on, and sometimes that doesn’t stop me. It’s warm and soft but still dressy enough you don’t feel like you’re in ‘lounge’ wear. It’s gathered at the back for a nice, stylish fit but taking that picture to show you was beyond my selfie skills.
You can’t see these pants very well, but they are also StitchFix. They are a black legging/stretch pant that are a dream to wear. They have a bit of “shape wear” in the top and they go with everything. Again, much dressier than a legging but just as comfortable. I wear them for nights out with heels and they are very dressy, or just tuck them in boots to be more casual. Like a little black dress, a great pair of black pants goes a very long way.
OK, I hope that encourages those of you who’ve tried the service to maybe to revisit it, and if you haven’t this is the perfect time to get something nice for all the coming holiday events {just make very specific requests in your comments}. You can sign up to try the service here via my referral link which I greatly appreciate, and once you’re signed up you can refer your friends too! I’d love to hear what you think and if you love it as much as I do.
As I mentioned I ordered some other new things for the coming winter. I thought I would share this shirt as it is a total steal and versatile enough for everything from holiday parties to work to church. It may need a tank under the pretty low neckline, but it’s a great deal at $25. I also just discovered this one, which is very similar, but it comes in more color options.
Here is the shirt is if you would like to see it on a model, rather than in my mirror. You’re seeing a lot of my current favorite necklace too, it changes from gray to pale pink, so you get two looks for the price of one!
I also ordered this shirt below (which is exactly like this black and white stripe one that I have on with the fur vest above. You’ll pretty much find me wearing that top and the gray sweater any day of the week, so I decided to add the blue and white one to my collection for a grand total of $12 for a little variety. Best part, it’s long in the back so it covers things that should be covered, if you know what I mean. Those are the black pants again too, by the way.
OK, I think my Fall shopping is all wrapped up {for now}, though Nordstrom just started their Fall Sale and there are more great deals and I still have some holiday events to figure out what to wear, so there might be more to come on that!
I also wanted to share today that I have written a guide on Ebay about “Holiday Entertaining Essentials” and featuring our Salted Caramel Martini recipe. It’s still one of our all time most popular recipes. You can click here to read it and get prepared for your holiday events.
On another fun note–did you see that all of Oprah’s favorite things are “shoppable” at Amazon? If you need gift ideas, what a great place to start! I couldn’t resist looking through them all to see what she selected this year, I always get such good ideas for gifts and for my own list 🙂 Bravo to Amazon for finding another way to make life even easier {Hello, Prime membership #bestthingever}.
Have a lovely weekend everyone! I am off to see Sarah Reeves in Concert tonight with some great friends and couldn’t be more excited, and I am thinking I’ll wear the blue tunic 🙂 Hope you are doing something wonderful!

Will you share details on the pants you mentioned? They look great and id love to request them in my next fix!
Amy says
Sure. They are the best! Ask for them. They are made by Liverpool, they are a black knit “jegging” type pant. I did get them last year but hopefully they still have them! Hope it works out.

Can I StitchFix and get your size and figure? That would really be ideal!
