Today is the last day of school and we are all very excited for summer vacation to begin. My boys have really been looking forward to summer break, counting down the days to say the least. We’ve created our summer bucket list and have downloaded a couple new eBooks perfect for summer reading. If you are still searching for summer reading ideas for your kids, check out Christy’s suggestions for 4th and 5th grade girls {here}.
One thing that my boys don’t like about summer is losing touch with classmates and friends. Summer is filled with travel and family plans, it isn’t always easy to keep in touch and it is a valid concern for any little boy. In order to ease their fears I’ve put together an end of school year treat combined with personalized play date calling card. This is a terrific sweet treat to celebrate the end of school and encourages summer hangouts. I ordered the most adorable printable play date calling cards from a lovely lady named Naomi, Etsy Shop owner of Little Hope Designs. She allowed me to change the wording on one of her existing designs and created these adorable play date calling cards within 24 hours. Thanks Naomi, you rock as do these adorable calling cards!!
Next, we ordered these amazing summer themed cookies from Andrea and Lauren of Sweet Mess Bake Shop. It’s a long story on how I met Andrea and Lauren, I will spare you the details, but they are lovely girls and amazing bakers who are following their baking dreams by recently launching Sweet Mess Bake Shop . These ladies grew up in and around their families kitchen’s learning valuable lessons, tips and tricks from their grandmothers, mothers, aunts and friends. Andrea and Lauren met in 2012 after being teamed up on the same work project. Andrea and Lauren realized they shared a love for baking and their combine skills set complimented one another. They were encouraged to start their own baking business by their fellow colleagues who raved over their confections at their companies pot lucks. Sweet Mess Bake Shop was launched and Andrea and Lauren are thrilled to have an avenue to share and showcase their sweet creations.
Andrea and Lauren’s passion for baking cakes, cupcakes, cake pops and cookies are obvious in their attention to detail. I would typically pass on a sugar cookie, they just aren’t my favorite, but I promised to give them my honest feedback. I am not sure what their secret ingredient is, possibly a hint of lemon, but I would not pass over one of their cookies ever again. Thankfully they came individually packaged or I may have eaten them all. They are soft, chewy, perfectly sweetened and beautifully decorated. Honestly, the best sugar cookie I have ever had (I promise I am not just saying this because of the giveaway!). My kids devoured theirs and my hubby asked for another. Andrea and Lauren also made them dairy free. The kids at school are going to go nuts when they see these summer inspired confections. You can check out some of their latest creations on their Facebook page {here}. Andrea and Lauren are giving away 1 dozen sugar cookies (of your choice) to two lucky winners. These are great gift idea’s for the end of school, party favors or a perfect dessert for your next event!
Thanks for stopping by~
