Fake flowers have come a long way over the last few years, many seem almost as beautiful as their real counterparts but they don’t die within a week, making them easy to use throughout your home. Today I wanted to show you again how I easily created this spring centerpiece using faux orchids and some moss.
I have had this beautiful large brass bowl (I also use it to chill wine when we entertain) for several years, it came from the Lucketts Holiday Market and I fill it with sparkly ornaments for Christmas, but the rest of the year it just sits empty.
I thought about polishing it but there is something about the brass patina on it which I really like, I use this for all sorts of things, it was originally a champagne chiller which I do agree is another excellent use for it.
This bowl is so pretty that I knew I wanted to use it for something special, preferably as a centerpiece when we weren’t entertaining. I decided to create a display by putting several florals in one pot but since I tend to kill most of my plants eventually, I went on the hunt for something pretty to fill it of the ‘faux’ variety. A collection of real orchids, even the grocery store kind, would also be beautiful.
There are a wide variety of flowers available here. I came up with this arrangement available here. It is $40 (shipped) and I think is beautiful quality. If you have a pretty bowl around, or a blue and white chinoiserie piece (see our ideas here) you can use any flowers that will fill out a larger bowl or pot nicely.
I simply dropped the arrangement in the bowl and tucked floral moss all around it to keep it stable and covered the top. I did try to remove the flowers from the white bowl first, but it was more effort than it was worth so I left it intact. I picked the moss up at the craft store for about $7 so for less than $50 I had the makings of a large orchid arrangement I can use for years to come. I think it will be the perfect spring centerpiece in our dining room even when the table isn’t set.
The gold bunny plates were such a fun find, I use them every Easter. They originally came from HomeGoods so I can’t source them but hopefully they will have some this year too. Something like this is similar.

Have a wonderful week!
