If you have kids who play soccer, then this is a busy time of year!  I’ve spent a few years driving to and from games and practices, serving up snacks, and washing stinky shin guards.  For those of you with kids on a travel team, then you probably spend your fall and your spring on the soccer circuit!

This idea was inspired by my after-beach sprayer that I wrote about here and here.  I love keeping a tank sprayer in the back of my car for giving our beach gear (and the kids) a hose-down before they hop in the car for the ride home. Here’s another super idea from Lindsay at Makely School for Girls–use it to fill water balloons!  Read more {here}.

Deck sprayer as after-beach shower!
One of our Etsy customers emailed me asking me to create a similar “H2O Only” sticker for her to use to spray her kids off during practices and games.  Since we’re already pushing 90° down here in Savannah, I imagine that would feel pretty refreshing during a workout–I think I’d even fill it with ice water!

Here’s what I came up with:

Easy cool-down soccer sprayer
I use a 3-gallon tank sprayer from HomeRight; as you know, we’re HomeRight brand ambassadors and we love to talk about their products.  Most months I’m sharing a DIY project with you, but every once in awhile I like to come up with an “outside of the box” use for one of their products.

Obviously, tank sprayers were created to dispense liquids in a convenient way; I have a second one in the garage that we use for cleaning solutions, pesticides, varnish, and all the other chemicals we’d never want to put in our H2O Only tank sprayer.  I love that the HomeRight sprayer has a shoulder strap so I can carry it easily, and the tip on the wand can be adjusted to spray everything from a thin stream to a gentle shower.  They also don’t have a huge logo on their sprayer, just measurements on one side:

The 1-gallon sprayer is a smaller and more portable size, but I like knowing that I’m not going to run out of water when it’s time to hose down my daughter and her friends!

To help get you ready for soccer or beach season, HomeRight is giving away a 3-gallon tank sprayer to TWO lucky winners, and I will send you a “H2O Only” beach or soccer sticker–your choice.  Enter here, and good luck!

I would prefer the beach sprayer.

  2. This is just about the most ingenious thing I’ve ever seen! I need one to keep just inside the back door. We live on 4 acres and when our grandbebes come spend time with us, they always end up just a tad bit dusty from playing with the dog, fishing in the pond and searching for Big Foot in the woods.

  3. I’d prefer the beach sprayer – that’d get a lot of use with the kids coming out of the lake all summer, though my wife might like the soccer one better – she’s pushing for our kids to play lots of soccer in the coming years.

  4. Love this! We are in a severe drought in California and I’ve been looking for a way to move bath water and overflow shower water to the yard for our plants. I couldn’t find a super soaker big enough. This thing is perfect – fingers crossed I win one. Thank you for hosting and posting about this 🙂

    Beach! Or lake.

I wanted to make one of these last year. I would love one for the beach.

  13. Awesome! I’d love one for the beach! I would also use it to wash off my balcony. Hauling water is not fun! 🙂

  14. Can “yes” be an acceptable answer? lol My fiancé’s kids play fall soccer, spring soccer, and sand soccer. We all like the beach though. I think we’d hope to win the soccer one, but would be happy with either. =)
