My daughter and I have been having so much fun looking online for items for her dorm room–it doesn’t cost a dime to window shop, right? We’ll probably wind up buying most of it back in the States since obviously everything she owns is here in Germany right now and it doesn’t make sense to buy here to ship it home.
She did fall in love with a macrame saucer chair at Depot, a European decor store, so we bought that and started a mood board with it as the centerpiece. She has pretty eclectic style (probably from my years of shopping vintage items), so this was what we came up with as a jumping off point:
I’ve linked everything below, except for some reason the velvet floor pillow wouldn’t link (it’s here). I also included a few different rug choices as well as bedding options. I also love those faux headboards that you can attach to the wall with command strips–they even have built in outlets and charging centers–so convenient! And if you’re like me and it’s been a hot minute since you decorated a dorm room, now they have super-long bedskirts that you can pair with bed risers to create tons of underbed storage.
The other thing that’s always essential is creative storage options. We’re finding pretty much all we need at Dormify, PB Teen/Dorm, Target, and IKEA, and of course my favorite TJ Maxx.
They don’t match roommates until July at her school (Georgetown) so we’ll probably hold off on any bigger purchases until then in case they want to coordinate. In the meantime, we’re having fun pinning and planning!
All of our favorites are below…thanks for stopping by!
