| Chalkboard panels | Days of the Week Letters | Chalkboard pens |
This is a repeat of a project that I first did two houses ago, and it worked so well for our family that I thought I’d do it again!
I used peel and stick chalkboard wall decals in our North Carolina kitchen to track our week at a glance, and posted about it {here} and {here}. In my ongoing attempt to be organized, I keep a calendar on my phone and computer, and a written one in my Day Designer, but it really helps the rest of the family to be able to see what’s on the agenda for the week. When Megan at Honey We’re Home guest posted for us, she used a similar idea, and it looked great {see it here}!
Here’s how it looked in our old house. {You can see that home tour here}
Our kitchen is to the left, where you see the side of my computer armoire {that post is here} and the living is to the right {that post is here}. The door behind the silver stool opens into our {laundry room}. There, now you know where everything is!
I could have cut the vinyl from a roll of chalkboard vinyl for my Silhouette, but it was just easier (although not necessarily less expensive!) to buy the same 9″x12″ panels from Amazon that I used last time. They come four to a pack, so obviously I bought two packs, plus my favorite chalkboard markers, although regular chalk works fine on them, too, and is actually what I used in the photos:
I found the center point of my wall and used my laser level to be sure that I put them on straight. These are removable and repositionable, so it was easy to line them up just right. Last time, I just used chalk to write the days of the week at the top, but this time I used my Silhouette CAMEO and white vinyl to cut out the days of the week and the word “Notes” for the eighth panel (if you use a Silhouette, then I used the font “Capitals” in 101 point size). (UPDATE: the days of the week and “notes” are available in our Etsy shop for those of you who don’t own a Silhouette).
We have textured walls in this house, but I can still write on the panels without much difficulty. I also put one of the boards that I originally designed to display my kids’ artwork underneath it. The bulldog clips are perfect for important school papers and reminders. You can read how to make one of those–they’re so simple–{here}.
I’ll confess that I didn’t put our entire schedule on the wall before I took photos. No need to stress anyone out with all of our busy-ness when you’ve got your own comings and goings to worry about!
How do you manage your calendar?
