We normally do our fashion posts on Friday, but today I kind of feel like we all need a nice, fluffy post to take our minds off of the election (that and a stiff cocktail!).
Since we are six hours ahead of the East Coast, I went to bed and got up at my usual time (6am) and learned very quickly that I was smart not to stay up waiting for the results. My method of coping during this season is to spend a lot of time reading my Bible and praying, and God has constantly reassured me that He is in control of everything and I am not to be anxious about anything. I hope you feel that same peace.
So, can we at least all agree that my dalmation print blouse looks really good with a bright yellow wool coat? Everyone wears dark colors here in typical urban fashion, so this coat makes me stand out for sure. I love the contrast of the yellow with the black and white.
My coat is from J Crew a few years ago, but they have a very similar style this year here (I’ll link everything right below the picture). I just ordered this year’s style in camel tan and if you are between sizes, definitely size down. You’ll still have room to wear it over sweaters. It’s on sale right now, too!
My exact boots are about seven years old, so I linked to similar ones and then a less expensive pair too. I tend to buy quality items but keep them forever (you can get shoes and boots resoled when they wear out), so the price per wearing is reasonable.
I also linked to a great belt from Tory Burch; it’s reversible to black or a beautiful brown color so it does double duty.
Outfit number two is one that I borrowed from Amy. We both have this inexpensive lightweight sweater from Amazon and I love how she paired it with a chambray shirt. No one wears white jeans in the fall/winter here so I opted for black ones instead.
Amy is usually at least a size smaller than me, but I am wearing a small in the sweater and there’s still room to layer. I wear my navy Hunter boots a ton here since it rains all the time and I also have a few pairs of waterproof ankle boots too that I’ll share soon (this is the link; I have them in taupe).
Here’s Amy in the same outfit (no need to tell me who wore it better–for sure it was her!):
Here are my sources for this look:
It’s a known fact that a little online shopping can provide an endorphin rush along with distraction from the news of the day.
Thanks for stopping by!
