That sounds so strange, doesn’t it? He’s 1200 miles away and we’re hoping that we’ll be able to see each other every 4-6 weeks during the next year while we’re living apart, but we’re so fortunate that we can visit each other. If this was a deployment, obviously that wouldn’t be happening!
I know I’ve showed you lots of photos of the MCC House, where the kids and I are living in NC, but today I’m going to show you a few shots of my husband’s place, because I’m really impressed at what a nice job of decorating he’s done with all the random pieces we sent out here with him.
He’s in a two-bedroom, two-bath quadplex (I think it’s actually bigger than the MCC house). It’s two stories so I don’t know if I’d call it an apartment or a townhouse, but it’s a historic building with all the plaster walls, pretty trim, and high ceilings that give a house character.

Since the MCC House doesn’t have a separate dining room, we kept our round kitchen table there…

We’ve got white, pale green, and a teal color in this room, which I never would have picked on the color wheel, but it seems to work.

My husband’s bae (also known as his recliner) has pride of place in the living room.

Thanks for stopping by!

You’re just down the road from us in Lawrence, Ks! I think we have the worst weather of the summer this week so take care and enjoy your stay. He’s at Fort Riley correct?
Looking pretty good for a bachelor pad!
I would expect nothing less than a man-glam home for your other half! He did great! Please hug him for me and assure him we will take excellent care of you while he is away. Xoxo
How wonderful that you are visiting your hubby…yes, he did a great job in setting up his “temporary pad” …. and then you go and just put your signature on it and make it so very warm an cozy for him. Yes, I agree with you on the move….It may be a lot of work, but in the end, you won’t have to deal with the heartache of broken things. you obviously did a great job in packing…enjoy your stay!!!
He’s learned from the best my dear! =)
I’m curious if he is living in the limestone units for officers? When my dad was stationed there we lived in a beautiful limestone two story townhouse. There is a darling store in Manhattan you should check out for home decor.
Great job. your taste has rubbed off on him!. Husband retired and we live in Lawrence, but had 3 kids in 4 years at Riley (beware of the water :)). Curious–we have the print you have over the fireplace–“guarding the New Frontier.” That was my husband’s CGSC class print but your husband is way too young to have attended when he did. How did you get a copy? I guess we thought it was only sold to members of the class–but maybe they just had 1st dibs?
Keeping two places going is a challenge. This is looking great.
