I cannot believe that my sweet baby boy, Atlas, will be turning one in a couple of months. Last year, around this time, we were placing the final touches on his nursery (click here to check it out) and now I am planning his 1st birthday. Times goes by too fast!
Atlas is 10 months and is doing so many new things. He is pulling himself up, trying to stand for brief periods of time and he is getting into everything. I’ve recently had to make a few “big boy” updates to his room in order to accommodate his growing needs. Lowering his crib was a bittersweet but a necessary change (he is my last baby so that one hurt a bit) and while at it I thought it would be fun to change his bedding, too. His new bedding is from my mother. Most of you know that she passed away a few months ago. This blanket is the last thing that she made and it is just beautiful. Her husband said that working on it kept her going; she wanted to finish it before anything happened. She was such a fighter and I miss her but I love the daily reminder of her that I get each time I see her final creation on Atlas’ bed.
The biggest change we made was adding a huge vinyl world map courtesy of Lulukuku. It is 89″ wide x 45″ tall so it makes an big impact on any blank canvas. I overlapped the “EXPLORE” letters, purchased from World Market, over the top of the vinyl and love the results. Lulukuku’s decals are so easy to apply and if you ever grow tired of your design (can’t imagine you ever would!) you can easily remove them without damaging your walls. My husband and I did this project together and it took us about 20 minutes. We love the results, don’t you?
Can you see Atlas’s feet sticking out from behind the crib? Like I said…he is into everything!
Lastly, this bookshelf is custom made by my father-in-law. He has made one for each of my boys and I love them. He painted it “Little Boy Blue” – – such a fitting name and a great compliment to the room. I hope you love the updates as much as we do!
Thanks for stopping by~
