Season of Giving Button

Over the past few years Christmas has taken on a life of its own in our home.  I’ve have to admit that I have gotten caught up in all the hustle and bustle of the holiday that I find myself extremely stressed out by mid- December.  I am not sure if the stress comes from all the buying, spending, baking, decorating, mailing–or all the above.  I do know that I have gotten to a point where I need a change.  I want the magic of Christmas back, and I want to share that magic with my children.  I want them to know that there is more to the holiday season than presents under the tree and I want them to experience the power of giving.   I have LOST the true meaning of Christmas but I think I’ve found my solution and I am excited to share it with all of you.

In the spirit of the season, the girls of 11 Magnolia Lane want to give back.  From December 1st-24th, we will be sharing our “Acts of Kindness” advent activities.  Our goal is find and share the true meaning of the holiday season with our friends, family and readers.  We also want to get our children involved and teach them that it feels just as good, if not better, to give rather than receive.

I believe that we all can spread a bit more kindness this holiday season.  It doesn’t have to be an expensive act; it just has to be kind.  I am listing out a few of our ideas and I would love your feedback and suggestions and most of all your participation.  We are hoping to make this a holiday tradition so please feel free to share your “Acts of Kindness” in the comment section below.  {We even hope to have a link party as the season draws to a close with other Blogs embracing this spirit!} Can you just imagine the true holiday spirit that would happen if just a small portion of the Blog world made random acts of kindness a part of their holiday celebration?

I hope together we can bring back the magic of the holiday season and remember; there are no acts too small, just be sure to be kind.

EXAMPLE Acts of Kindness:

December 1st: Donate Hats and Mittens to a local church collecting them for children in need in our county

December 2nd: Pick up litter & trash around our neighborhood (I plan to get the kids involved on this adventure)

December 3rd: Make Dinner for my neighbor who is a single working mother of two beautiful girls.

December 4th: Organize a neighborhood winter coat drive

December 5th: Send a holiday care package to a Service Man/Woman fighting for our country and freedom

**More Acts of Kindness to follow, these are just to help you (and me) get started**

Thanks for stopping by~

    I love this!

I try to do at least one random act of kindness everyday…most days I succeed.
I love to see the look on peoples faces as they try to figure out why I did what I did for them…it’s magical!

    Great idea ladies

I try to donate when seeing the salvation army… In addition I clean the girls toy room and give all to a local women’s shelter. When I spoil myself with drive through coffee, I LOVE to pay it forward by picking up the bill for the person next in line. 🙂
