Whether you are celebrating Mother’s Day or just need an excuse to have a fun girls’ day this May here is a great “something” to celebrate. Did you know that May 9th is Moscato Day? Moscato is a sweet wine varietal perfectly in season at this time of year. So, in honor of the wine and this coming weekend with Mother’s Day, I put together a fresh spring brunch just for my Mother and I.
Moscato is a fresh fun wine that is the perfect addition to spring entertaining. It comes in 3 varieties–white, pink and red so it will please all wine palates. It’s light and fruity, bursting with flavors of peach, honey and ripe citrus.
To go with the Moscato wine from Gallo Family Vineyards, I picked a light menu perfect for this spring time of year. I made some of my favorite recipes, ones that are easy yet perfect for a light Ladies lunch.

This is my favorite chicken salad recipe, you can find it HERE. It’s easy to prepare and so delicious.
A crostini is the perfect compliment to the salad. I can’t stress enough how easy this recipe is. I serve it for appetizers frequently and everyone is astounded that it is just FOUR ingredients {seriously–bread, goat cheese, scallions and olive oil–that is it!}, it’s slightly addictive too. You can view this recipe HERE and you might want to also ‘Pin It’ to b/c you’ll be glad you have it on hand next time you need an appetizer recipe in jif!
Paired with a crisp glass of wine on a beautiful day, this is such an easy menu to celebrate Spring, Mother’s {or your girl friends!} Day, or just for no reason at all other than that it’s Moscato Day!
With a simple menu designed to compliment the pretty AND tasty wine, I selected a pink and green color scheme for the table. I couldn’t resist using my new Lilly for Target napkins mixed with some of my other favorite china. The top plates are part of my great-grandmother’s china collection, my Mother graciously let me “borrow” them though she might find them hung on a wall here for a while before they are returned to her, as I think they are just beautiful and I’d love to have them on display. The pattern is Indian Tree by Coalport, for those of you who inquired when I posted this image on Instagram last weekend.
Life is busy, it’s been nice to have an opportunity to slow down, enjoy a meal and a delicious glass of wine with my Mom. She’s the best and deserves so much more this Mother’s Day {you can see her home here}.

What a beautiful table setting! I will have to pick up a couple bottles to try, sounds perfect for spring as does your menu. I will definitely have to try the crostini. My hubby loves bruschetta, but we don’t make it anymore due to my tomato allergy. This would be perfect!
