The Powder Room at the MCC House

I thought today I’d share a few photos of the downstairs bathroom at the MCC house.  We have two full baths; one up and one down, so this downstairs bathroom is shared by my kids and is our powder room for visitors.

I had to do very little to this room since the bathrooms and kitchen have been updated.  The pretty white beadboard and molding was already in place, and the paint color is a taupe-beige that is a great neutral–no need to change anything!

I did hang two sheer IKEA Lill panels at the windows; these two windows look out into a wooded area on the side of our house and are perfectly private, so I took down the black panels that were here when we moved in and decided to maximize the light in this room.

While certainly not a necessity, it’s really nice to have two sinks at the vanity.  My kids do a great job of keeping the counter clean and remembering that it’s also a guest bathroom.

You can also see the white ruffled shower curtain reflected in the mirror.  The shower has glass doors, but I still like to hang a curtain to cover up the tub and shower; it just makes everything look tidier.  It also gives my kids extra privacy given that they’re sharing the space and sometimes you just have to dash in to grab your toothbrush/deoderant/mascara in the morning rush!

We’re fortunate to have lots of cabinet and drawer storage space under the vanity to stow all those toiletries!

Every few years I get new monogrammed guest towels; these are my current favorites:

Also, Amy and I got to see each other for dinner last night!  Since she’s in Virginia and I’m in North Carolina, this only happens a few times a year (if we’re lucky).  She and her family are on their way south for a week’s vacation, so we met for dinner right off the highway.  It’s always SO GOOD to be together, even for just a few hours!

By the way, do you like my new (used) car?  I’ve wanted a convertible for years; my first car was an old Corvette convertible and I’ve missed the wind in my hair.  This little Beetle is so happy and fun to drive!

The kids enjoyed their reunion, too.  They’ve grown up together and Amy and I realized last night that the boys are almost the age we were when we met each other in college!

Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for stopping by ~

Thanks so much, Linda! I didn’t make the shell, I actually bought it here: http://bit.ly/2tl5oVn. This isn’t the exact one that I bought, but it’s close, and I know I didn’t spend more than $45 on mine (they can be very expensive if you don’t shop around). I’ve also seen them at TJ Maxx and HomeGoods recently. Hope that helps! Christy

You are correct, there’s nothing like girlfriends, and we think of our readers that way, too!
