Hi everyone, now that spring is here (yay!) I thought I’d show you a few spring touches I have recently added around our home. I have had various blog/decor projects in the works, some with a ‘spring’ theme so I thought I’d pull some of the photos into one post showing off our new spring accents. I am SO happy winter is over, can I get an amen?!?
Our foyer decor is always simple because the space is so small; I moved this picture of my daughter in here during the holidays and have yet to replace the mirror that was here. I ordered it thinking we would hang it in her room but it hasn’t made it’s way up there yet. I have recently accepted that I can’t keep real orchids alive, so ‘faux’ ones it is 🙂
This winter I gave this dresser a coat of Paris Gray chalk paint and added some new {repurposed from another dresser and then sprayed gold} hardware. This dresser has stored my kids’ baby clothes in each of their nurseries. I probably can’t count the coats of paint on it but I couldn’t see parting with it, and now that it’s here in the breakfast room I don’t know how we got by without it. Bureaus are a great way to store table linens and placemats, they are often too large to to fit in my kitchen drawers or on under-counter shelves.
My DIY Open Shelves always get an update for the season. This year I stuck with bright blue accents mixed in with antique silver. These are an easy weekend project, you can see the tutorial HERE.
Moving into our family room….this two-story room has always challenged me as far as decorating with the soaring ceilings and overwhelming walls. I’ll be sharing all about the new art you see to the right of the TV next week. I am updating the space with larger scale pieces, they fill up the walls better and help the space feel less intimidating. The two framed prints on the other side of the TV are also getting reframed into larger pieces, so this will all be better balanced once that is are complete.
In front of our knee wall I keep the bottom part of our kitchen hutch. I miss having the top part for it up here but this provides even more storage for dishes and serving pieces. I have been contemplating putting a couch here, I think it would provide a nice conversation area; so that may happen this summer once we know if we’re moving or staying.

Here is a sneak peak of my dining room tablescape, we’re joining with a fabulous group of bloggers next Monday and we’ll all be sharing our Easter tables so I’ll be back with tons more photos then. I found some darling Easter plates at HomeGoods and mixed them in with some other fun finds so we will have a pink and white table this year. You can see my table (s) last year HERE.
