I painted our master bedroom this weekend, and it’s almost ready to show off. In the meantime, one small corner is finished!
The room started out a basic off-white with yellow undertones and just didn’t work with my furniture. Here’s the before:
We have a huge deck off the back and the French doors open onto part of it; there’s also a great view of the golf course, which makes my husband happy even though he’s so busy at work that he doesn’t get to play much.
This is the corner I’m showing you today:
The door to the right is my closet. Here’s the downstairs floor plan so you can get an idea of the layout:

I gave the room a coat of Sherwin Williams Comfort Gray using their HGTV Home Ovation paint (it’s got primer built in). I used my PaintStick so I didn’t have to mess with a roller tray and it worked perfectly, as usual. I do toss my roller covers after using the PaintStick, but I do that when I use a traditional paint roller, too (see more “after” photos and read about my painting process with the PaintStick here).
I decided to make this corner into a reading area; my painted gray bergére chair is almost three years old now and still in perfect condition, other than the chip taken out of her front left leg during our move from hell (we are closing in on a five-figure claim settlement).
The chandelier is a favorite; it’s a plug-in so I just swag it wherever I want a little extra light (and bling) and it’s easy to move when the time comes. I have a second one in my daughter’s room {here}. Sources are at the bottom of the post.
The silhouettes were a birthday gift from my husband a few years ago; my daughter’s hair was so short in first grade that she complains that she looks like a boy in it, but I can tell the difference!
The corner gets great light and is the perfect spot to relax with a cup of tea or glass of wine.
I’ll have the rest of the room ready for you soon!

Looks beautiful ~ as usual! I love how that chair has held up. I have one that I’m wanting/needing to change ~ may have to try this. The curtains look so airy and light and how nice to have the french doors onto the deck. Can’t wait to see the reveal!
Have a wonderful week ~
