We survived Halloween (I only ate ten pounds of Sugar Babies!), and it’s time to starting thinking about Thanksgiving–one of my very favorite holidays!  This year we’re hosting guests from both sides of our family, and the house will be full of fun.  I’m planning a fried turkey extravaganza (we’re in the South, after all!) and an afternoon cornhole tournament.  Who’s with me?!

I always like to use place cards on my table.  I swear it gets people seated SO much faster when there’s no discussion about who goes where.  This is important when you have seventeen different side dishes growing cold during the debate!

I found these small wooden signs at Michael’s for $0.29 each.  I gave them a quick coat of chalkboard paint, and now they’re reusable place cards.  By the way, if the stickers on the back give you trouble, just warm them with a hairdryer for a few seconds and they’ll peel right off.

I also love that these are reusable.  I will probably make a few more and use them to label dishes at our next buffet-style dinner party.

If you’d rather just print something out, I designed two different place cards for Thanksgiving.  They are designed to be printed as fold over cards, but you could certainly cut them out individually and mount them on a tiny pumpkin or a pine cone.  Print them on 8-1/2″ x 11″ card stock for best results.  This design has the name on the front and “I am thankful for…” on the back, so that everyone at the table can read what you’re thankful for.  {Click on the image or HERE to download and print the pdf file}

I’ll be back with some ideas for your Thanksgiving table next week.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I love the idea of the chalkboard place cards as you can use them and re-use them for so many things…such as place cards for identifying food items, etc….thanks for the inspiration!

  2. These are adorable and so easy to make, even for a non-crafty person like me. Thank you! Also, the burlap pumpkin is so cute too! Would you share where you got those too? 🙂
