Because it’s Friday and we’ve all survived another week, I thought I’d post my most recent favorite cocktail. Mind you, this is so simple that there’s pretty much to need to call this a “recipe,” but sometimes the simplest ideas are the best!
If you were actually allowed to drink alcohol on the Whole30, I’d call this Whole30 compliant, but of course you’re not. However, if you’re trying to follow a low-carb or paleo diet and you just have to have a cocktail every now and then, this is the drink for you.
This is literally all there is to it: a shot of flavored vodka, a can of naturally flavored sparkling water, and ice. Mix and drink.
My favorite flavor combination is pear vodka with peach-pear sparkling water. Since I’m not following any particular diet right now, I’m also allowed to garnish it with a slice of ripe peach or pear–yum!
If you’re really not following any diet, you can add a packet of stevia or a pump of naturally-flavored peach syrup (or both if you have a big sweet tooth). I managed to stop putting sugar or flavored creamer in my coffee when I was doing a Whole30 earlier this year, so I try not to add in any extra sugar, and I’ve gotten used to the taste.
My other favorite flavor combination is lime vodka, cherry lime seltzer, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
Without the added sweeteners or the fruit garnish, this drink has 69 calories, and 0g fat, 0g carbs, and 0g protein. It’s practically a health food, y’all!

It’s a beautiful day here today, highs have been in the 80s all week and I am about to sit with a book for fifteen minutes or so. Cheers to Friday!
