Like Christy, I am gathering all my room photos together so we can prepare our home to be on the market. This room, while it’s probably our “most used” room, seems to always lag behind other rooms on my “to-do” list, and therefore really has never been shown to ‘the world’ here.
If we weren’t moving, I would paint the room to warm it up, but for now we are leaving it white. We chose a very neutral color scheme inside this home–dark floors, white walls, white kitchen. I know many of you prefer to see more “color” in rooms, but we designed this house during a crazy, stress-filled time in our lives {if you have met my daughter, you understand!} and I craved quiet in our new home. We also didn’t want the inside decor to take away from the pretty view of the lake outside.
My future decor plans include a custom cushion for the chest shown above. Also, reworking the couch pillows and painting our entertainment center. That will all happen after we get done touch-up painting and the pre-move purging finished {then pack, move, unpack etc.} I suppose!

Where did you get the alphabet tray?
Amy says
Can you believe it was a Target find? I actually scored mine on Ebay after seeing it online in some beautiful homes…Search for John Derian Alphabet tray–apparently it was sold in Target several years ago.

I know where you got the bird candle under the cloche, because I gave it to you! 🙂 But, like Becky, I want to know where you got the alphabet tray!

I enjoy visiting your site because your work is so beautiful–divinely classic, yet fresh. The advertisement banners really take away from the site overall; however, I realize they are a necessary evil.
