One of our very favorite online resources for printed invitations and artwork is Minted. In fact, during the early days of this blog I was an invitation and event designer, which is how 11 Magnolia Lane originated if you have read about our backgrounds you know originally this was a blog to market and capture events that had taken place. As I evolved into blogging full-time, I encouraged all my loyal design clients to fill their future printing needs at Minted, as their selection and quality is top-notch. I recently had the opportunity to select a large piece of art for our family room and because Minted is having their Anniversary Sale , I decided that today was the perfect day to show it off.
If you’ve followed along I’ve been giving our family room a bit of an overhaul this winter; it needed some polishing up as it’s the space we spend the most time in and inevitably entertain in. I am not going to lie that the two-story walls in this house have always stumped me as far as decorating, not to mention I hate them because of the noise factor. I have never thought decorating the top part of the wall would look right, but anything I put on the bottom seemed dwarfed with 12 feet above it and the ceiling. {I see those of you out there with these 2000-era building boom houses nodding in agreement!}
A large-scale piece of art turned out to be the perfect solution. I ordered the 30×40 size framed with a white border, though this piece would be beautiful in a single story room in a slightly smaller size. I should also mention I am getting the art on the other side of the TV reframed in larger frames so the scale will balance better. The lower print of the birch trees is also from Minted, below you can see a closer look at that print. I love the black and white of the birch trees in it, it reminds me of our family cabin in Maine where these trees are abundant.
I had several pieces on my Minted wish list and admittedly wavered between them for a week or two. I knew I was adding navy blue in our family room and came very close to ordering this print here. In the end, my tried and true decorating rule is to always go with what I truly love and this print just kept pulling at me. I decided to order Mesmerize and once it arrived I knew immediately it was the right choice. The soft colors are gorgeous, and it will be easy to find a spot for this in any future home. It would also look stunning over our fireplace, when my decor ADD kicks in it might spend some time there in the future!
Minted has so many beautiful pieces of art, I already am planning which one to order next from their selection. I selected the option to have this print framed with the white border and the price was very reasonable compared to taking it to be custom framed. Since during the sale everything is discounted at 15% now {though you need to use the code: NINE for the discount} is also a great time to stack up on invitations {especially if you have a graduation coming} or some new prints for a child’s room.
This is definitely the case of pictures not doing art justice. When I opened the box I was amazed by the beautiful colors {our instastory was full that day with me showing the art off I was so excited!}, and the quality of the art. It changed the entire look of our room, it was just the polish I was looking for.
Don’t forget you need the code NINE for the sale in honor of their anniversary!

Now the frames were an additional expense 1/2 price at Michaels, but I have them all hung and love them and it was so easy.
