I am elated at how this room turned out! Today I am going to share with you all the pretty pictures, then I will follow-up next week with all the sources, details, projects etc. {see that post it here} This is my 5-year old daughter’s room, formerly with white walls and beige carpet, now it is all decked out in pink, white and gold.
{Gold vinyl polka dots available here; I used about 2 sets}
As I mentioned in the first post about her room, this started as sort of a temporary room makeover. She did request flowered wallpaper, and that may still be a possibility. I am sure we will also paint it and we need to have a light junction box installed so we can hang her chandelier. All in all, at this point this decor is essentially “rental decor” as nothing is permanent–a few gold vinyl polkadots and some tissue poms go along way to making a white space feel much more exciting and fun.
Just ask this girl…
{Note: jumping on the bed is only allowed for photography purposes!}
I started the room with this fabric I just loved. {available HERE, and my second choice is HERE} I didn’t have a clear idea of where I was going with it–I just knew I really wanted to use it, it’s fresh and fun, just like my daughter! So, I started by making her Art Board at the beginning of summer using the fabric, you can see it HERE.
From there we added the gold dot decals and the gold frames–the details are in this post HERE. Then as time permitted this summer I just completed the other little projects to complete the room.
I also used that great fun fabric to make a pillow for her bed. OK, actually, my wonderful mother made that great pillow for her bed, isn’t it darling? Pom-pom fringe just makes everything better! The pink rosette pillow is from HomeGoods.
I added the tissue poms on impulse and just for fun. My daughter and I made them together and just used a simple kit {such as these and these}. They add some interest to the ceiling until we can get her chandelier hung–none of our bedrooms have lights in the ceiling so I currently have a garage full of chandeliers. If you are curious you can see her darling chandelier from her old room HERE. { and yes–I take my lights with me when I move!}
I sprayed her formerly white furniture a bright pink with my awesome HomeRight FinishMax Pro paint sprayer–that was fun and easy! Her furniture was not expensive and we’ll probably replace it when she is a bit older so I had no problem picking a bright pink paint and going to town with the sprayer. {My follow-up post will have all the details on the paint and the process, I promise! UPDATE: read that post HERE}.
These nightstands are totally my favorite part. I picked them up for next to nothing at an auction last summer, and a little pink paint and gold spray paint on the handles were all it took to jazz them up. I love the vintage, kitschy 1950’s vibe of them and the other accents in the room. And, open the drawers and surprise–some shelf paper {similar pattern available here} makes them even more fun!
Christy cut the round gold monograms with her Silhouette CAMEO (her tutorial on cutting round monograms is here). If you don’t have a vinyl machine, they are available in our Etsy store {here}.
Here is the other side of the room, that is her Dress-Up Armoire {see that HERE} as well as the Art Board.
Here is the other side of the bed, we just used some gold and pink wrapping paper from HomeGoods to brighten up the back of her plain white bookcase. Of everything, she was most excited about this–who knew? This was an easy fix for a plain piece of furniture, just wrapping paper and double-sided tape!
Here is the room when I started, if you like to see the “before” shot.
You can see more about all the details projects, sources etc. HERE.
We updated this room AGAIN and added twin beds! Click HERE to see how it looks now!

Hi Amy….you did a fabulous redo on your daughter’s room in pink.
My question to you is the pillow on the bed w/the round flower like
fabric. Wondering if you made each one or purchased a vintage fabric for
this pillow, so cute. Wanting to make for my great granddaughter,
who loves pink. Hope to hear from you Amy. Katherine in
Portland, Oregon.
Amy says
Hi Katherine–I believe you are referring to the pink pillow with the rosettes? I think it was a Homegoods purchase. Christy’s daughter Annabelle passed it down to us when she outgrew her pink room. I have definitely seen similar ones in Homegoods! Hope that helps 🙂 What a lovely thing to make, there are tutorials online for that style pillow too if you can’t find one. I’d say your great-granddaughter is a lucky girl!
Take care,
Amy
Miranda says
The room is lovely and I especially love the large pillow on the bed – the green/pink decorative one with the pink bobbles on the side – do you sell these? Or would you be able to make one for sale? It is just the loveliest pillow! Thank you for your time 🙂 Miranda
Lauren @ Mom Home Guide says

The subsequent time I learn a weblog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as a whole lot as this 1. I mean, I know it was my option to read, nonetheless I actually thought youd have something attention-grabbing to say. All I hear can be a bunch of whining about something which you possibly can repair when you werent too busy on the lookout for attention.

Love your taste and style! I am getting ready to paint t large chest in my daughter’s bedroom. May I ask what color paint you used on the nightstands? It looks very similar to one that I am considering: SW Vivacious Pink.
Good job!

Hi Karen, it is a vintage chenille cover I got years ago off eBay for about $20. I am sure you can find one if you scout around, they are out there! 🙂
