Today I wanted to share an inexpensive and easy way to make your front door beautiful. We spent about $15 and a half hour to change out our builder grade plastic doorbell for this adorable vintage-looking brass doorbell, and I think it made a huge difference:

Here’s the before:

And here’s a close up of the new door bell. I was pleasantly surprised that it was made of heavy brass given that the price was so reasonable ($16.45 plus shipping from this Etsy seller). They also have a dark oiled bronze version of the same doorbell if you prefer that finish).

If you’ve never changed out a doorbell, it’s probably the easiest electrical task there is, since doorbells are low voltage and super simple to wire. A three minute YouTube video will walk you through the process.

I’m also sharing my sources for my doormat and rug, and the ivy topiary forms that I always get asked about. I absolutely love them!
Thanks for stopping by!

Love that doorbell. I’ll probably have to purchase one for our new home!

It made such a big difference–why didn’t I think of it in our previous homes?!

didn’t put a doorbell in at our home,. Reason the person that invented the doorbell didn’t have dogs. I have an antique door
knocker that came from my husbands grandmothers house in Atlanta (Very Old) .

That’s a good point, Rita. Sadly, I am now without a dog, and the cat couldn’t care less if anyone is at the door, whether they ring or not. My house is just a shade sadder without a barking butler!

I agree! I always notice them at other peoples’ homes!
