Hi everyone! I have birthday parties on the brain today so I thought I’d pop in to share a few quick pics from a party I attended last weekend. You all remember our former third co-blogger here, Terry? She now has an extremely successful event planning business so when she throws a party it’s not your average run of the mill event. We share a mutual friend, Trinity, who hit the 40-year milestone this week, so last Friday night Terry surprised her with a birthday party for a few close friends.
Our Trinity not only has the best smile in the world but she is always dressed immaculately so a party theme with a little glam, gold and sparkle was in order. You can see her baby shower here and her daughter’s nursery here–the girl has great style!
Terry has that innate ability to effortlessly whip up a beautiful event so I started snapping pictures of everything as soon as I arrived. I loved how the event was comfortable and casual but still elegant. As always seems to happen at a party, everyone gathered in her kitchen, and after all these years Terry knows not to fight that dynamic. She did a great job making the space look special.
When you entered her house the first thing you saw was see this cute display with balloons and I brought a custom sign with the party’s “40 and fabulous” theme.
Heading into the kitchen Terry had a table set up with the sweets and individual servings of dishes like shrimp and grits {Don’t they look amazing? They were!} and crostini with filet and arugula. She just served the dishes in plastic cups with small forks and it was a great way to let everyone eat when they wished and not have to juggle and plate and a drink.
You saw the cheese platter I brought HERE but Terry’s spread put mine to shame. She had used her entire island, decorated it with some pretty white fabric, and had a huge assortment of snacks laid out. It was the perfect place for everyone to gather around and enjoy a cocktail and a bite to eat.
Aren’t the napkins cute? “Start the day with a smile and end it with champagne”… the perfect theme for any party! Especially a milestone birthday 🙂
So that was last weekend’s main event! Today I am running around getting ready for a different 40th birthday party that I am hosting this weekend for two friends (it is birthday season around here!), the theme of this weekend’s party will definitely be a little less ‘glam’, I’ll be back to show it off next week!
Have a great weekend everyone!
