Welcome everyone! This is exciting, as it’s our first official home tour since we’ve moved into our new home. I am so pleased to be sharing the fall decor in this home with you all, and grateful as always to Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for hosting this very fun fall home tour.
If you are coming from My Sweet Savannah, welcome! You can read more about us here if you are visiting for the first time. There are 30 bloggers homes being showcased this week, so be sure to read to the end of the post where you can find all the links and see all the gorgeous fall decor. There are so many different styles on the tour, it’s always fun to see all the different ways to decorate!
Decorating our home for fall was a combination of fun and challenge. Decorating is always fun, I love the process of unearthing the bins of decorations and finding new spots for them (and shopping HomeGoods for a few more new touches!). It allows me to get creative, however it was also a little challenging this season as we’re still working on color schemes and decorating and organizing everything in this house. If you are new here, we moved to a newly built home early this summer. It’s a joy to be here, but we are definitely still tweaking many of the areas post-move.
I’ll be showing more of my front porch over the coming weeks, but we’ll start here, welcome to our home! I went a bit overboard out here, I figure having a front porch again after years of just having a concrete stoop was cause for a little bit of extra decorating. Almost all of the decor came from HomeGoods, I scored these gorgeous lanterns a few weeks ago (I found them separately at 2 different stores, but crossed my fingers that they would match and they did!). They will definitely be making another appearance for the holidays.
I wanted the layered mat look that is so popular right now but decided to skip the fall-themed doormat in favor of one we can use year round. A little animal print is always on point, right? The area rug was found in store at Hobby Lobby.
I am still working on our foyer and entry area, I added some quick decor as soon as we moved in but am now in the process of pulling it together formally once and for all. I’ll have that to show you soon, so we’ll skip over that and head right into our family room.
Couch | Coffee Table | Pillows | Similar Tray | Rug | Snow Leopard Pillow
As I was mulling over what look I wanted for fall in here I kept being drawn back to blue. When I found these beautiful blue patterned pillow covers on sale at Pottery Barn I decided to use them as the inspiration for my fall decor. I paired them with some pillows from HomeGoods in animal patterns for a fun mix, focusing on pops of blue mixed with neutral patterns and textures.
A brass bowl is filled with velvet pumpkins, sits on our coffee table. These small pumpkins are probably my favorite decorative item for fall; I find them at specialty and craft stores.
Over by our fireplace I added a few small touches, a pumpkin here and there along with a few more patterned pillows. My art is from Christie Adelle, my husband gave it to me for my birthday last year and the colors inspired the gray, gold and blush color scheme in this room.
My Everett Foyer Table got some fall touches, namely some wheat sheaves and a dough bowl filled with small white pumpkins. I should use the term ‘filled’ lightly, as I added as many as I could find this early in the season, which wasn’t many.
Behind the couch is the small console table I recently repainted, it is a fun little spot to decorate. You can see the decor peeking over the couch, this faces our kitchen island (where our sink is) so it’s nice to have a few pretty things to look at while I wash dishes.
My dollar spot gold-stemmed pumpkins are the star of the show over here, these I couldn’t resist. Also, aren’t the hydrangeas gorgeous? I found these realistic faux stems at a local garden center, the colors were perfect, they match my light blue pumpkin I found at HomeGoods.
We have an open floor plan in the back of our home, so our kitchen, breakfast and family room are all in one space. I recently showed off our new table, which I love. I can’t wait to do more entertaining in here this fall. It’s been dark and dreary and rainy here for the last week, so I made the best of it and created a cozy tablescape using some candles to brighten the space up.
kitchen table | chairs | glasses | flatware | rustic shelving | chandelier
We plan to make some changes to the kitchen (we have a newly constructed home, but we decided to not pay for builder upgrades to allow us to do some customization beyond what they offered) so right now we have some temporary storage in the space. These rustic shelves are where I keep some extra dishes until we add more cabinetry. I am in the process of ordering new chairs for this table (I think I finally settled on some) so the slipcovered chairs will go back into our dining room once they arrive.
Last but not least, you probably saw this look in my recent mattress post but I added a fall accent or two into our bedroom such as a soft throw, and some furry accents. I have even made more updates to this room since I took these photos so I’ll share those soon. It’s a work in progress right now with a brand new home, we’re trying to balance the must-do items (like trying to grow grass!) along with the fun stuff like picking paint colors and adding decor.

Links for rugs on the front porch?
Amy says
Hi Morgan, I just updated the post. I got the doormat at Ballard Designs and the plaid mat at Hobby Lobby, I found it in store, it doesn’t seem to be available online. Hope that helps!

Your home is Lovely. I am working to re design areas in my home…primarily lighten it up. I love all of the decorations, but my question is regarding your sofa. Is yours a slipcovered sofa? I have a big, comfortable “gold” sofa that I would like to find slipcovers for, but if I can’t find the slipcovers, I want to purchase a slipcover sofa, that I can remove covers and wash (lots of dogs). Any advice would be most appreciated. 🙂
Amy says
Hi Gina, yes my sofa is slipcovered and it’s 15 years old! The only option I can suggest is to call around for someone who sews slipcovers if you want one made for it. It might be cheaper to buy a new one–even IKEA has great sofas with slipcovers (that you can replace easily and they are very affordable) and of course, Pottery Barn has them too for a bit more money (be sure to wait for a sale). You can even search Craig’s List for a used sofa and buy a new slipcover and save some money that way. Hope that helps! We love ours but we’re hoping to finally replace it soon.
Best,
Amy

LOVE YOUR FALL TOUR. WHAT PAINT COLOR IS ON YOUR FRONT DOOR?
Amy says
Mary, I wish I knew! It was part of the package from the builder. At first I didn’t think I’d keep it, but now that it’s all done I love it. Sorry not to be of more help! Amy

Hi Amy! I absolutely adore your new home! I went to the Pottery Barn page but it said the pillow covers were no longer available :(. I have a question, where did you find your beautiful white rugs next to your bed?
Amy says
Sorry for the delay Heidi! The small fur rug is from HomeGoods, they used to carry tons of them. Hopefully, they still do. I am sorry the pillows have already sold out, I’ll keep my eyes open for more of them. Take care, Amy
