My daughter’s room was one of the first that we decorated in the MCC House, and you can see how it look(ed) in my summer home tour here.

She was never thrilled with the vintage aqua plates I had above her bed.  They worked for quite a few years, but she outgrew that look and wanted something more sophisticated.

I had a stack of twelve dollar store frames from the DIY botanical gallery wall I created for the master bedroom in our last home (see that post here):

She’s been pinning dozens of gorgeous vintage Vogue covers and she chose twelve to print (if they’re older than 1932, they’re in the public domain and not subject to copyright laws, but check your facts here).

^^See Brontë making herself right at home on the bed?  Queen of the House!^^

When you’re using inexpensive picture frames, they don’t always hang straight, so I use a small piece of double stick tape on the back to position them.  That saves you from making 700 holes in your wall when you’re lining things up!

We added a gold hook to the wall so her practice tutu doesn’t collect dust and dog hair on the floor.

We also spray painted a cork board gold for some of her favorite memories.

Since we had all the supplies for this little project, it didn’t cost us a cent, and we were both really happy with how it turned out.

  1. What a great idea. They look fabulous, and I love the pops of color they add.

  2. Heidi Colton says:

Any girl no matter the age would love that room!

  3. Perfection accept for vertical shades. Look at Nate Burks pull down shades in textures and colors. The shade store is where I can find I thinks The blinds say regular decor and this is not. I still have em too…
