Welcome to Day 2 of our 3rd Annual Holiday Open House. Yesterday, Christy kicked us off with her pretty new home in North Carolina and now today is my day to share our home decked out for the holidays! As part of our series each day until December 20th we’ll have a new guest blogger sharing their beautiful holiday decor. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year! And, we have a giveaway for a holiday gift basket filled with treats for YOU–so be sure to read to the very end so you can enter!

Welcome everyone, to our holiday home!

We’ve completed many projects in our home over the last year which made decorating much more enjoyable. I love the holidays, and creating a space for our family and guests to enjoy all the gifts of the season has been a pleasure.

I have already shown off our new flocked tree, it now greets you when you enter the house. I can’t begin this tour off with any outdoor decor shots as the weather has been rainy and miserable all week, so I focused on my inside decorating as much as possible. We’ll get to the outside one day soon…when it’s warmer– and dry!

Our family room is the center of our house so we’ll start there.  At the last minute I decided against using all the red and tartan plaid I usually decorate with in this space and instead went with grays and silvers, I find it more peaceful and it flows better with the rest of our house.

I always have to use boxwood wreaths even with their short lifespan, nothing compares to the fresh greenery.

Behind our couch you can see our newly made-over kitchen and breakfast room, so we’ll head in there next.

I hang a fresh garland over the windows each year. This is is the view from our kitchen sink, and I spend a lot of time there, so it’s nice to have something pretty to look at.

I literally whipped up the “Joyeaux Noel” sign, tutorial to come.

This sweet advent calendar is my favorite with it’s tiny muslin bags with stamped numbers hanging from little clothespins. It decorates our hot chocolate bar–for sure a holiday essential!

We’re big Elf  {the movie} fans, so his quote {from Lindsay Letters} makes me smile every time I walk by it.

mudroom-holiday

Last winter we took the doors off this closet and made it a mudroom, so this space also got a little fun holiday decor.

And this girl wasn’t going to miss a chance to be featured. The advantage of having a silver lab is she color-coordinates nicely 🙂

Heading back to the kitchen, the stained shelves we DIY’d always get decked out for each season. All the red I didn’t use in the family room showed up here!

Around the corner from the kitchen is our Dining Room, I already showed it decorated HERE last month.

It’s been updated a bit since then since we’ve been entertaining, and the tree is now in our foyer.

Finally, I rarely show this room on the blog because it still needs to be “done”, at least in my world. This project is on the list for early next year, but I was inspired by this red woodland Pottery Barn print to add some holiday decor in our Master Bedroom this year.

One thing led to another and I changed out all our usual bedding for the “Sweet Dreams” pillows and duvet from our Guest Room, and I added a boxwood wreath above the bed. It’s a nice change that seems cozy and fitting for this time of year.

I found this antique armoire at an estate sale, though I had to hire movers just to get it up the stairs, it’s that heavy. The drawers inside hold wrapping paper inside {and a TV}, so at this time of year it’s put to good use, I open it up and have everything I need to wrap stored inside.

I still have to finish up the decorations in my kids’ rooms, so I’ll add those pictures in; after all these photos, my camera seems to have called it quits, I think I wore it out! As soon as I can get it squared away I’ll add a few more images in this post. In the meantime, we have so much more holiday inspiration coming from our guest hostesses over the next several weeks.

  1. I loved your tree and your home is gorgeous!

  2. Gorgeous, gorgeous. Everything is so pretty and I love your soft colors. The tree is magnificent and I adore your mudroom plaid too.

  3. Stunning Amy! Love the soft colors and your flocked tree is so pretty! The fresh greenery is so pretty as well. Everything looks amazing!!

  4. Oh my word Amy! It’s breathtaking!! WOW. I love every detail! All of your wrapped presents look so pretty.. I wish I could have you come and wrap mine! I love the soft colors you used with the green boxwood wreaths. So welcoming and elegant! Simply beautiful sweet friend!! xo

    • Thank you, you are too kind. I think I copied my colors from your gorgeous house 🙂 Hope your holiday season is going beautifully so far! Can’t wait for your tour! XOXO

  5. How beautiful!

  6. So, so beautiful! I do love that flocked tree and the decor on it. The fresh greens are wonderful! I’m highly allergic to cedar so can never have them. Love the holiday prints!

    xo
    Pat

    • OH Pat, so sorry about your allergy. That does make holiday decorating a bit difficult. Luckily “fake” decor has come a long way in the last few years, I’d really prefer to skip the whole real tree thing all together (so much mess!) LOL. Hope you are enjoying the holiday season so far!
      XO,
      Amy

  7. I enjoyed seeing how you incorporated Christmas décor through out the entire house.

  8. I loved the “neutralness” of your decorations – you have all the glitz and glamour without it standing in your face. Just Beautiful. Decorating the entire house is a really good way to spread the joy. Now if only someone would make gift tags that read FOR and WITH LOVE I would be so very happy as we ave 28 “presents” in our family that we give to and the ready made tags with TO and FROM are so very impersonal and “unloving”. Judy C.

    • Thank you so much Judy! I think you are so right about gift tags–I am sure there are some available, I will keep my eyes out! That was a collection I downloaded they do have many different patterns. What a large amount of gifts, but how nice to have so many people worth giving too. XO, Amy

  9. Everything is just gorgeous but that flocked tree takes the cake. Thanks for a great tour!! Merry Christmas

  10. Amy, your home is so very, very beautiful…it just sparkles with love and warmth that you place in making your house a home…the incredible silver and gold decor is so very glamorous, yet warm and cozy at the same time…that takes talent to achieve that. Enjoyed seeing your beautiful Christmas decor, especially that glorious tree!…Amazing!
