Fall is one of my favorite seasons, although here in the South we’re often well into October before we start to feel any sort of chill in the air! That doesn’t stop us from bringing out our seasonal decor, though. If you didn’t see Amy’s fall home tour, you’ll definitely want to check it out here, and today I’m sharing how I added a few fall touches to my living room.
My approach to seasonal decorating has changed quite a bit over the last few years. I think it’s a combination of being in a small space and the fact that our kids are older, but I don’t decorate for Halloween anymore, just Fall. I bring out a few tried and true decor items and usually add a few new pieces to the mix, but I tend to keep it minimal.
I hit HomeGoods last week because that has to happen every time I’m near the store, and of course you all know that we’re HomeGoods Ambassadors and Pinterest partners (hello, dream job!).
They had a few items that jumped into my cart and are perfect for fall, like this hammered copper pitcher that was only $12.99:
Copper is everywhere this year (see it on Amy’s fall table here) and it’s the perfect warm metal to add a touch of fall to your existing decor. You can tell that I have no problem mixing metals since I’m already using gold in the mirror frame, the tray, and the round side table, and they all work together.
The bag of tiny white pumpkins was also a HomeGoods find (I’ve shared a full source list at the end of the post). Sometimes it can hard to find real white pumpkins in our town and this is the perfect solution. There were at least a dozen of them in the bag so you’ll see a few more on our table in my next post.
The blue velvet pumpkin was only $5.99 so I had to grab two; the other one is in the powder room. This one is a great match for my blue velvet chair, don’t you think?
I think we all know that I can’t resist a good throw pillow and this shade of teal blue is a perfect non-traditional fall color! I scored a two pack for $24.99 and they’re down-filled. Trust me when I tell you that that makes a huge difference in how your pillows feel and maintain their shape with use. I never buy a polyester-filled pillow unless the cover has a zipper; that way I can replace it with a down one.
The orange tones of the lilies pop perfectly against the blue tones in the room; I almost always have fresh flowers in my living room because they just make me happy.
Last but not least, I love a good faux fiddle leaf fig, and this one is shaped perfectly.
Our house has lots of trees outside and tends to be a bit dark inside, so faux plants have a much better chance of survival than real ones. Plus, real fiddle leaf figs are super-expensive around here and this one was only $69.99.
Harley has gotten pretty bold lately and will even hop up on the couch for a nap when I’m right in front of him. We are one small step away from total anarchy here.
I also found a few great pieces to create a fall table and I’m going to share them in a separate post next week. There’s more copper–because you can’t have too much–and lots of soft natural color and texture.

Oh it all looks so pretty. The blue is stunning and I love the addition of the copper.
