Now that we’re past the pollen deluge that the South ‘enjoys’ in the spring, it’s time to get my outdoor living spaces ready for daily use. There are a few easy tips that I follow every year to get things ready for us to enjoy months of outdoor living (plus there are a few things I do to freshen up the inside, too).
The first step is pressure washing our porches and deck. If you don’t have a pressure washer, a garden hose works as well. I take a few minutes to blast away the pollen and any leaves or cobwebs that have accumulated during the winter.
The next step is to rinse my outdoor cushions, throws, and furniture, and refresh our outdoor herbs and flowers. Usually by this point I’m ready to take a break and enjoy a cool drink and a book!

Inside the house, I prep for spring by giving everything a thorough cleaning and dusting all of our flat surfaces. I change out my throw pillows from winter to spring colors and patterns and bring in plenty of fresh fruits and flowers.
I also throw open all the windows and air out the house to let in fresh air.
For those of you who who love fresh, floral scents, you’ll want to give Meadow Breeze a try. Our house was feeling kind of stale after several months with no fresh air flow, and Meadow Breeze got things smelling like spring within minutes with notes of bluebell, clove, lily, jasmine, and rose.
