Happy Friday! Thank you everyone for your kind comments on my last post, it has been a few weeks of ups and downs for sure. I have enjoyed mindless virtual shopping at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, they do have some really good deals. If you aren’t a card holder and don’t think you ever want to be, I linked some items that aren’t part of the sale and are in season at the end of this post. They have some great summer items that you can shop now.
If you read similar blogs to ours, you might already be tired of reading about the sale (don’t worry we have some non-fashion posts on the calendar next), if you don’t, you may be wondering what all the excitement is about? It is no secret bloggers love Nordstrom. Yes they pay affiliate commissions (see our disclosure HERE), but I think the real reason is in the same way as Amazon is innovating how we buy almost everything else, Nordstrom is doing the same thing for fashion. With free shipping and returns, incredible customer service, and an easy to navigate website, in this day and age there isn’t a need to drive to a mall. If you need a new pair of jeans, you can order several pairs in several sizes and send back the ones that don’t fit. Much better than braving the poor dressing room lighting 🙂
While obviously Nordstrom benefits if you are a cardholder (and certainly part of why they allow thier card holders to shop early), there are some perks like FREE ALTERATIONS at a certain level of spending, that alone is a tremendous savings for some of us. I also like that I can plan ahead if I have an event coming up, order several dresses and then decide which one to keep. In the end, Nordstrom has all price points and most of their items are just reasonably priced, good quality and in style.
All that being said about their fashion, what sometimes gets overlooked is that Nordstrom also has a wonderful home decor department. Of course, finding great deals on decorative items is near and dear to my heart 🙂 Since you can take advantage of the free shipping/returns just like anything else, it is a great time to pick up some new things for your home during the sale. Also in this same department are the gift items, they have a ton of monogrammed items, picnic baskets, barware so you can scoop up gifts if you need them and save some $ in the process.
One more sidenote if you didn’t hear: yesterday the site was down so Nordstrom is offering 10x on rewards for purchases yesterday and today. Not a bad reason to start your Christmas shopping in July!
Wading through their huge selection is always the drawback, so I linked my favorite home picks below. Keep in mind that you can’t shop (without being a cardholder) until July 21st, so if you don’t have the card you can create a wish list or just add items to your cart in hopes they don’t sell out before the sale starts.

Metal Mirrored Rolling Bar Cart–This is really cool, perfect for mixing your drinks ‘Mad Men’ style. It would be darling outdoors for a party too 🙂
Ombre Beach Wall Art–This set would look great group together on a wall, there is also a muted color set if black and white isn’t your thing.
Cool Mist Aromatherapy Diffuser–one of the best prices I have seen for an Essential Oil Diffuser (a nice, easy way to perfume a room), even better with the free shipping too.
Pineapple Sheet Set–these would be great for any room, but with pineapple being a sign of hospitality, wouldn’t these be cute in a guest room? Just $45 for full set during sale!
Check Pleat Duvet Cover–available in blush or aqua {so pretty!} just $60 during sale.
Awning Stripe Rug–I have been eying this for my kitchen, because well, blue + white! I love the quality of these Dash & Albert rugs.
Gold Starburst Mirror–The perfect mirror to hang in a hallway, over a bed or entry. Small, but at a really great price.
Nikki Chu Ultra Pouf–This chic little pouf would work perfectly in a girls room, bathroom or just for extra seating.
S’well Water Bottles–Have this and love! Keeps water cold as you are running around town, and it makes a great gift too. Mine *might* even bring wine to the pool on Friday nights, oh the possibilities are endless 🙂
Monogram Mason Jar Mugs–These would be a great gift, perfect for a wedding or shower. Of course, they would look great displayed on open shelving too.
Courtisan Oyster & Blue Rug–I love, love, love the subtle pattern in this rug. It comes in multiple sizes too.
Blue + White Throw— again with the blue and white! I have a similar one to this and love how it brightens my living room.

Copper Moscow Mule Mug–Last fall these mugs were everywhere, the warm copper tone is perfect for Fall tablescapes, not to mention they are pretty fun to serve drinks in 🙂
Hammered Metal Lamp–lamps can be costly, the hammered metal on this is a nice mix of trendy but is still classic enough to stand the test of time.
Rifle Paper Co. Floral Recipe Box–handwritten recipes will always have a place in my heart, even in these days of Pinterest. Rifle Paper Co. always has the sweetest patterns. Wouldn’t this make a cute wedding shower gift too? Is it too soon to start a recipe collection for my daughter? 🙂
Metal Accent Table–just $72 during the sale, this cute table could go anywhere!
As promised, for those of you who aren’t really ready to think about buying Fall clothes, or still have vacations ahead and need to pick up a few new things, here is a quick round-up of current season on-sale fashion. There are some good prices on summer basics and NO you don’t need to be a card member to shop these items below!
