Hi, everyone!  Today’s Operation: Organization post is from our sweet friend Paige, from The Pink Clutch blog.  She always has the cutest ideas (check out her darling home office “command” center here and her holiday open house here).  Today she’s back, sharing a fabulously organized coat closet.  I sure wish mine looked like that!  Here’s Paige:

It’s winter and we all have a clutter of jackets, boots, hats, scarves and gloves at the door.  It is the inevitable drop zone.  The guests walk in … discard their loot and drop it on the floor … or even worse for me, hang it over the stair banister.  For our house it ends up being two doors ~ the front and the garage.  If you know me at all you know I don’t do clutter.   It literally makes me itch.  The Hubs compares me to Monica Geller … and yes I would love a tiny vacuum to clean my regular one.  I mean … who wouldn’t?

Last year at this exact time of the year we found ourselves snowed in and I found myself more than frustrated with the endless pile of wet items at my doors.  I was one day short of truly losing my mind.  Truth be told … I am probably that way a lot.  xo

It was time to make our coat closet something more than a drop all for things that we needed to hide when guests popped in for a visit!

A can of Kate Spade green paint and a few hours of my time and I was thrilled with the result!

A chic coat closet I was thrilled to use and organize.

A coat of gold spray paint on the hanging bar made it even more fabulous.
I just love the change from the dull wood it was before.

I grabbed red and turquoise hangers from my own closet to make the pop of color continue ~
and I LOVE it!

The green is so happy with all our boots and coats … and I do love opening the closet to be greeted by the amazing pop of my favorite green.

Since I own basically the only boots in the house ~ they gather here to hang out and plan their next adventure.

The top shelf was organized this winter after my growing frustration with the constant discovery of the Scout junk trunk in the hallway and in disarray.  I took the pile of scarves, hats and gloves out and divided them into like piles with the help from burlap baskets I scored in the Target dollar spot.

A few tags and some ribbon and … BAM!
I love it!
Every time I open the coat closet I am greeted with happy colors and organized winter wear.
And that is a great thing!  I actually am in the process of doing a similar thing to our pantry and butlers pantry … stay tuned for details and reveal!
Happy bright storage spaces!

Thanks, Paige!  I seriously would never have thought of a Kate Spade green and gold coat closet–but it’s just so darling and happy!

  1. That would go right to work on our kitchen floor. Our baby is at that stage where anything on the floor immediately goes into her mouth so we clean it non-stop to prevent her choking on everything.

  2. Dogs and boys..Need I say MORE??!!
