I found this mid-century sweetie at the Salvation Army thrift shop in Savannah, about four years ago. It’s the perfect size for me and is so comfortable, but I wasn’t a fan of the original harvest gold velvet.
Here’s the before:
While I can reupholster, I’ve decided that it’s well worth it to pay someone else to do it. Fortunately, we have a great upholstery workshop in town and they waved their magic wand over my chair.
I chose this navy blue velvet from Online Fabric Store.

I never thoight of painting a chair. Maybe next time try using a fabric dye as it’s just liquid pigment without the stiffness paint causes. Looks great in the blue velvet though. Love it all! Looks better than what a $$$ decorator does.

That’s a great idea, Carol–thanks for the tip! I love the blue velvet, too, and am so happy with how it turned out. I’m not kidding when I say that it’s my favorite chair (it’s super comfortable, too).
