February is around the corner, and the days are still short and dark (yuck), so I’ve added some color to the living room.
The blue and white lamp that’s been here for ages has moved to my office, and this new (to me) brass lamp has taken its place. Funny story–I bought it at my favorite local thrift shop and found out that my friend Ashly (see her gorgeous home here) was the one who had donated it! It came without a shade, so I just popped the Greek-key trimmed one I already had on it. Perfect!
One new throw pillow made all the difference; the blues, whites, and reds are a fun pop of color (sources at the end).
We’re in the market for a new couch after almost eighteen years with the Pottery Barn one in the photos. I might buy a set of new slipcovers for it and put it in the game room since it still has lots of life left in it, but it’s time for something new in the living room.
The big chair and a half that matches it (on the right in the photo above) is going away soon, too. I need to get its replacement reupholstered and then it will be time to swap them out.
I’ve also been buying up all the brass swing-arm lamps I can find; I just love the look of them.
I will add a tassel to anything–especially lamps!
I’m in the process of killing another orchid; not everyone has a green thumb.
The new blue and white garden stool replaces the gold ones that the movers broke. Not that I’m still bitter or anything.
I wish I could be one of those bloggers whose throw pillows always look perfect…I’m just thrilled when the pillows are actually on the couch instead of the floor (teenagers)!
Happy Friday, friends, and thanks for stopping by!

Love the addition of the blue and white pieces, and the brass lamp with the greek key shade. Adds just a bit of sparkle on a dreary dark day.
