Today I have a design board with affordable sources for an easy living room update to share with you.
It isn’t a secret that I prefer neutrals vs. a lot of color in our home. Not only do a find it to be a more restful environment, but I like that with a few quick swaps of smaller items, like art or pillows, I can give our space a fresh new look. While I am planning on a few small updates in our family room this spring, I recently put together this design board for a full room makeover. Most of these items are in stock and currently available, not to mention budget-friendly. The sofa is a bit of an investment, but it will last for years to come.
This rug started my design wheels turning, it is the perfect neutral base for any space. It is also pretty and affordable (an 8×10 is less than $300). You can find it here. This one is similar but from a different brand, but it’s available on Amazon here.
You can’t go wrong with a classic sofa, we have this one from Pottery Barn.
I paired the sofa with two of these affordable chairs from the Studio McGee line. At $340 each, they also have a fun pop of wood trim which adds interest.
I loved the patina on this brass coffee table, and it would work perfectly especially in a smaller space. While this isn’t shown on the collage, I like the look of a leather ottoman, I am considering a similar one to replace our aging coffee table. Either of these would add nice warmth in the room.
Another item that has been sitting in my cart is this pretty, classic mirror. It looks just like it’s more expensive counterparts (this very popular one here).
Either of these mirrors would look great over this woven console, which is another affordable find and still in stock. I like that it has closed storage, which is always a good thing in a frequently used space.
I also added a small wood accent table to the design, something that works great in any space.
A faux olive tree adds greenery and height, these are so popular right now in home decor. This one is reasonably priced (under $75) and is currently in stock and available to ship. The Studio McGee line has the best faux plants too, you can sprinkle them in a room for pops of nature even in the middle of winter! (See them all here).
For neutral accent pillows the combinations are endless, but I liked this classic antelope fabric paired with a block print. The pillows in this line are only around $14, which is a pretty unbelievable price! The neutrals pair well with the animal pattern above.
Gallery frames are a large way to fill an empty wall, either with printed art or family photos. These affordable frames are here.
A stylish box is perfect to hold momentos or even as a place to stow away the remote (always a good idea!), you can find this metal one here.
To add extra light or to dress up a wall mounted TV, this affordable pair of brass sconces is an easy way to polish off your living space. No wiring? No problem–just see how to fake it in this post here. The look great on either side of a TV.
I’ll be sharing more about the home updates we’ll be making this spring soon, in the meantime I hope this inspiration board was helpful.
