It is Day Three of our 12 Days of Holiday Homes Tour and today is my day to show you our home decorated for the holidays.
Come on in! I don’t usually spend too much time on my outside decorations, this year I refreshed some decor we already had for our front door. I doubled over an old, inexpensive, garland and added some plaid bows and ornaments. The wreath came from HomeGoods and with a new bow for this season it looks festive on our front door.
Most of our time is spent in our family room, so this year I moved our flocked tree from our foyer in here. We’ve typically get a live tree for this space, but I love the way this tree looks in here so I think we’re just going to keep it simple this year. I added some copper ornaments along with the gold and silver I usually use, I love how it all sparkles, especially at night.

{Our flocked tree is available HERE}
In here we also have our wreath from Lynch Creek Farms, who graciously sponsored this tour. Rather then hang it on our front door, I wanted it in this space where we could see it and smell it. It is so fresh, it just smells like Christmas, this one is the Silver Deluxe. This is the {flocked} tree I have, it is wonderful.
I fell hard for these sweet blush and gold boxes from the Sugar Paper line at Target, they look pretty accented with a gold polka dot bow. No doubt they are headed for a permanent home in my daughter’s room once they holiday has passed 🙂
This year I decorated a second tree for our front hallway, as I like having the lights showing in the front of our house and having it be the first thing our guests see. For this tree I used a green, silver and champagne color scheme. The floral accents fill in the bare spaces in the tree which is a great trick to make an inexpensive ‘faux’ tree look fancier.
Across the hall is our library turned piano room. We recently acquired a piano from my husband’s side of the family, his youngest sister is quite a talented musician but she is living in an apartment so we’re keeping her piano until she has more space for it. It has taken over our front room, and nice as it is, it creates a bit of a decorating challenge so I don’t know yet what I do with this room as far as the seating etc. goes. You can see how we DIY’d the built-in shelves from IKEA bookcases HERE.
I kept the decor in this room simple, I just hung my Lindsay Letters 12 Days of Christmas banner and added floral spray I found at HomeGoods over our gold mirror.
The console in our hallway also got some holiday additions, including our Giving Manger, one of my kids’ favorite traditions. I so prefer it to the Elf!
This year I also decorated our kitchen since I spend so much time in here, especially at this time of the year. This is the only space in our house where I added some Christmas red, I like how bright and cheery it is against our white cabinets.
I change out the decor on my DIY open shelving seasonally, and decorating them for the holidays is always fun. The O Holy Night sign is available HERE {you can print it at Staples for only about $3}, a smaller {letter sized} version is HERE. These are a great alternative if you don’t want to invest in an expensive printed canvas for just the holidays.
Finally, of course, I had to put some touches on my daughter’s room for the holidays. She has her own little tree {as do her brothers but their rooms are really not clean enough for me to show them to you!} filled with ornaments we’ve been collecting since she was little.
My favorite new touch is the gold wreaths we added at the end of her bed, just hung with satin ribbon. I have a feeling these may stay up long after the holidays.
Like Christy’s daughter, my daughter is also ballet-obsessed. A pair of used toe shoes and Nutcracker are expected in here at this time of year in here.
If you would like to see more of our home, you can view our entire home tour {with sources} HERE. I still have a few more decorated rooms that I’ll show off another day, like our dining room and mudroom. Be sure to also visit our other featured house today, Tale Of An Ugly House {which I promise you is not ugly at all!} and check back daily as we have such a wonderful group of bloggers sharing their decor each day between now and December 13th.
