Thanks to all of you for your sympathetic comments about our moving nightmare–I appreciate every one of them! And I’m so sorry to hear that so many of you have had horrible moving experiences, too. It just doesn’t seem right, does it?
We’re spending the the July 4th weekend–you guessed it–unpacking and cataloging more damage, but I did take a little bit of time to put up a few patriotic decorations and I thought I’d show them to you. My husband and son did escape for 9 holes of golf, too–but I kind of feel like I can’t relax until I’ve got things in order.
I have to repot the boxwood and ivy; they are outgrowing their current pots and that’s why the black pots are stacked to the left of the door. One thing at a time!

I have the long flag banners that you see on our front pillars as well as traditional bunting, and I just alternate them based on our current house. The bunting is out back on our deck.

I’ve had the black lantern for awhile but the white one was a farewell gift from a friend in Savannah.

I added the house number at the top of the porch; it’s made out of black vinyl instead of hand-painted, but I’ve wanted my house number written out in script for awhile and haven’t had the right porch for it before. I actually measured when I was here to paint at the end of May and cut the vinyl before we moved.
You might remember that I used the same font on the “Welcome” on the storm door at our last house (it’s available for purchase in our Etsy shop):
And I did a different style of house number on the front door of our Nashville house:
{available in our Etsy shop here}
So I guess it’s tradition!
I’m looking forward to getting a few rooms nice enough to show you soon–it seems like it’s really slow going this time around and I think that’s because dealing with the claims process is so cumbersome. Usually I’m unpacked and decorated in a week; that’s definitely not the case this time but I am trying to walk away every once in awhile for a break and a sanity check!

I did see the house number first thing and I love it!! Such a great idea and looks like a perfect spot for it. All your decor looks awesome, as usual. I’m so sorry about all the damage ~ very disheartening when that happens. Hope you’ve had a great weekend!
