Furniture “Befores”

This is the current situation in my office, as well as most of the rest of the rooms.  Some things are packed to store, some things are sitting out, and it’s just a great big mess everywhere.  Since I normally only show you pretty pictures, I thought you might enjoy seeing the chaos that is currently my life!

Because we’re going to have much less space in our new house, and because I’m sending most of our living room furniture out to Kansas with my husband, I’ve picked up a few new (to me) pieces.

First, this bergere chair was $20 at my favorite thrift shop:

I love the lines, but there’s no way to work with that ink stain on the upholstery!   I have reupholstered before–remember this loveseat I did for my daughter?

However, I just don’t have the time right now, so I took it to a local fellow who is doing the upholstery for me and recovering it in a neutral velvet from Online Fabric Store (see it here).

Then, I found a beautiful French settee while out shopping with my aunt and uncle last week, and I just love the look of it:

The antiqued wood frame doesn’t work with the dark fabric, and the fabric is in good shape, so I’m thinking about just painting the frame.  The cushion is down and it’s so comfortable; I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
