Easy Greek-Key Trimmed Curtains

I am just popping in today to show off a quick and easy project–the best kind! I have been moving curtains around as you saw in my Dining Room post. I wanted to share how I updated a simple set from IKEA with greek key trim for our front room.

greek-key-curtain-trimmed,
The Greek key pattern is all the rage but it can be expensive to have curtains trimmed professionally.  Even if you purchase the trim and DIY them yourself, I found it was hard to find affordable trim, especially since I needed a large amount–more than 16 yards.

There is already enough going on in this room, so a simple curtain worked perfectly. These curtains are just simple ivory linen panels from IKEA, you can see them in our old house below. I just thought they needed to be a little more interesting to flank the bay window in our front Library.

This black and white greek key trim which is available at Hobby Lobby was the perfect solution.

Once I added the trim, these curtains got a new life. I just used this trim below (I ordered it online, sadly Hobby Lobby is an hour from me, so paying the shipping for these was well worth it) and I actually just hot glued it on to the edge of the curtain.

It takes about a spool per side of curtain, so I used a total of four–if your ordering be sure to get enough.

A little hot glue and in a few minutes these curtains were all trimmed out. I used paper clips to hold the trim to the curtain when I started so the glue could dry, but honestly it was such a quick process I found I didn’t really need it.

This bay window is all done up now–simple and easy, the best kind of projects!

Love how they turned out. A source for bulk ribbon, not sure if they have greek key, is JKM Ribbon. I used to order bulk ribbon for cheerleading bows from them.

Beautiful! Great idea to order from HL as they don’t always have what I have in mind. 🙂 Just the right touch for your room.
