The Best, Affordable Slipcovered Sofa Options

The best affordable white sofas, slipcovered and sectionals. Budget friendly, quality options.

If you are (or will be) in the market for a new affordable sofa today I am sharing a collection of the best affordable white slipcovered sofas I have found. I mentioned in this post we’re working on an overhaul of our main living room. This has been a long time coming, so I have spent many hours searching for just the right sofa. In fact, it has taken me months to decide what kind of sofa I wanted in here, either a sectional or two standard sofas facing each other.

A sofa is a big investment, they can costs thousands of dollars and they really aren’t something that you can switch out when you get bored so you better love it, right? Our current sofa ( Pottery Barn Charleston) has been well-loved by our family, so much so that it has been hard to think about replacing it, much as we need to.

To finish off this space, our main family living room, we’re also adding hardwoods with a rug. This summer we added these custom curtains and over the holidays I got these beautiful gray velvet chairs. The last step is to decide on the room layout and order the sofa (s). After months of going back and forth between a sectional couch and two traditional sofas I have finally decided on a layout with two standard sofas facing each other. I like that set up for conversation as well as how it looks in the room.

Originally I thought we’d get a sectional L shaped sofa, but after way overthinking it, I knew the back would face our kitchen, a set up we had when we first moved in that I didn’t love. I also have done the math over and over and two sofas can easily hold 4 people (two on each), with the two velvet chairs that gives us comfortable, plenty of elbow room, seating for six. For the sake of keeping the whole family (all 5 of us) comfortable two couches seems like the best option in the room.

The only non-negotiable is that the couches have to be white and they have to be slipcovered. I have found over the years that this is the best way to go, I can simply remove and wash the slipcover if something spills on it and worst case I can always use a small amount of bleach. I wanted to try go with a company that had to option to replace the slipcover (worst-case) if I ever needed to. I’ll tell you what I picked at the end, but here are all the sofas I considered.

I looked at sofas in all price ranges. If my kids were still really little I’d probably opt for a less expensive sofa so that they could play on it etc. but outside of flopping on it to stare at their phones, we are beyond that stage.

Affordable Slipcovered Sofa Options

I love the classic lines of this Fairchild sofa, it comes in a ton of colors and the price is amazing. If I had younger children I’d probably opt for this one. The arched back gives it a unique look too. This one is currently $900.

This sofa is another budget-friendly find (especially if you get it on sale), I have gone back and forth over adding two of these facing each other. It looks so comfortable and I have heard great things about this sofa. While I doubt you could order replacement slipcovers for this one, you could always have them made. This one is currently $899. You can also get the matching chairs here, which are a great value. I have my eye on a set for my sitting room.

I liked that the arms on this one were a little different. I want to avoid the rolled arms we had last time (just for something different) and like the cleaner, more modern look. This one is currently $1319.

Moving up in price, but also (hopefully) in quality, this clean-lined sofa had just the look I wanted. It would be the perfect base for any room, and could easily be updated with throw pillows. This one is currently $1899.

This is another sofa with perfect lines, and this comes in a ton of fabrics. It also comes with a variety of options–slipcovered vs. Upholstered. Square Arm vs. Slope and Deep Seat vs. Standard. It even comes in a larger “grand” size. This one from Pottery Barn is $1899 . Important note on this one, I looked at the fabrics in the store and to get a true white (vs. ivory) the best bet is the white twill. It isn’t a performance fabric, so it doesn’t have as much stain resistance but it is also cheaper. You can see the Pottery Barn York Sofa with the Slope Arm option HERE.

Affordable Slipcovered Sectional Sofa Options

I looked at several sectionals like this one, it looks so comfortable. and would have been a little less than two of the higher priced sofas above. This one comes in 18 colors and is currently priced at $2559.

The best white slipcovered sofa round up

I considered this sectional in the sofa version as well, it was well-priced (for Pottery Barn) and has the clean lines I like. In the end, of all the Pottery Barn sectionals I looked at this was at the top of my list (had I decided to go that route). Again it comes in a ton of colors and fabrics, it is currently $3845 with the Twill White slipcover, so on sale it is competitively priced.

If money were no object, I’d absolutely buy this beautiful sectional shown above. The lines are perfect and the fabric is white linen (practical, no, but so gorgeous!) with down blend cushions. This one retails for $9495 (Out of our budget but still gorgeous.).

The Sofa (s) I Selected…

After looking at all of the above, in the end I went with the Pottery Barn York Sofas in the square arm in white twill. You can read my review post on these sofas here. On sale they are a budget friendly (enough) option. I sat on them in the store and measured them and the regular sofa (vs the deep or the grande) are the size we currently have so two in the space won’t take over the room.

If you are looking for a more traditional looking sofa, you can also read the review I wrote about my parent’s Pottery Barn Chesterfield sofa and some lower-priced alternatives to that style here.

Update: Read our review on the Pottery Barn York Sofas after living with them for four months in this post HERE.

Why didn’t you get wood floors when you built the house instead of ripping out the carpet now and replacing it with wood so soon after the house was built? Seems it would have been easier as well to do the wood from the building stage. Just wondering.

Good question–the flooring was super expensive from the builder, so we didn’t want to add things to the mortgage that we’d have to pay years of interest on that we knew we could do cheaper ourselves. We opted to handle several projects, like the floors and some of the upgrades in the kitchen, ourselves vs. financing them in the loan. The floors will be half as much as they would have cost through the builder so this was a better route for us.

I was wondering if the sofa’s with the rolled arms were Ikea’s Ektop? I am looking at these and am not keen on spending more in case we ruin the white slip covers (even though I would purchase a second set). If they are the Ikea Ektop, I would love to hear your opinion of them. Ps love your blog 🙂
