Hello! I’m Jennifer from Dimples and Tangles and I’m so honored that Amy invited me to participate in the Spring Open House at 11 Magnolia Lane! She and her pals Christy and Terry always have some great projects up their sleeves, and I’m so happy that they’ve included me with their fun Spring Tours!
As of a few days ago, we have lived in this home for 7 years…longer than any other house we’ve ever lived in! We have worked on almost every nook and cranny to update it and make it our own, but there are still plenty of projects on the to-do list. It’s my pleasure to show you around today.
Welcome! The entry is full of some of my favorite things…secondhand finds, green, stripes, gold, black, and antlers (scored FREE on Craigslist!).
The Living Room-
| Dragon Pillow |
Probably the only room the in house that I consider “finished” is the Dining Room. It’s full of second hand makeovers and DIY projects.
In the kitchen, I painted our oak cabinets and we did a mini-remodel almost 4 years ago, but we’ve recently added the lantern pendants and subway tile backsplash.
I couldn’t resist throwing in this picture from Christmas. The dots were a temporary addition (that are still there!) that were made with black cardstock, a circle punch, and attached with double sided tape.
This is probably one of the hardest working spaces in the house. Meals, homework, blogging, crafting…we do it all in the Breakfast Nook! The botanical wall art is made from pages from a book, posterboard, and inexpensive frames. Hung in a large group they make quite a statement!
Our extra room serves many purposes…Office, Craft Room, Movie and Wii Room, Music Room, Library, and Playroom! I hand painted the panel over the built in desk, and decided to keep the wood finish, but painted the backs the same color as the walls to lighten them up. The drum shade was a DIY project to bulk up a vintage chandelier.
My daughter’s room is bright and lively and full of color, just right for her personality!
We can’t part with our ceiling fans in the bedrooms, but at least I dressed them up a little with some spray paint, fabric, and mod podge.
I’ve had this red and white checked wingback forever, and when we decided to move it to her room it got a makeover with all of the fabrics used in the room and a hot glue gun! The lamps are an upgraded thrift store find and I refinished and painted the second-hand dresser. My dad made the shadowbox on the wall and it used to hold all of my treasures when I was a little girl.
All of the fun family photos in the laundry room make it tolerable to spend time in there. 🙂
We’re so happy that it’s finally nice enough to spend some time outside! We practically live in our backyard this time of year.
I’m just wrapping up a year-long off and on makeover of my son’s room. Most of the time things move slowly around here, there are always a lot of irons in the fire! See that wood on the wall? It’s our old fence that we had to replace! This week on my blog I’ll be sharing the full room reveal.
Coming this summer (I hope!) is my Master Bedroom makeover. I’ve had the plan ready forever and have supplies gathered, and I’ve almost wrapped up everything that I need to so we can begin. We painted well over a year ago, have Craigslist nightstands ready to be made over, and place-holder bedding for now. Come follow along on the process!
Many, many thanks and great big hugs to the ladies of 11 Magnolia Lane for having me as their guest today. I would be delighted for you to visit me sometime at Dimples and Tangles. I assure you that there will be no lack of colorful, budget friendly, stylish projects!
