We are SO excited for today! It’s the beginning of a new feature here at 11 Magnolia Lane. We’ve shown you our homes, and now we’d like to give you a peek into some of our favorite bloggers’ homes. So be sure to stop by on Sundays this spring for our Spring Open House Home Tour, where we’re sure you’ll find some new inspiration.

We’re kicking the series off with a blogger who is madly talented–we LOVE her home and decor style.  We were thrilled when she agreed to share her beautiful home here today. So, without further ado, please welcome Kristin from [email protected]!

Hello, everyone! It’s a pleasure to be here on 11 Magnolia Lane today sharing my spring home tour!!

Here’s a little background on our casa. Our home is actually the home I grew up in. After living in it for a few years, we actually had plans to sell it and then move on to the next. Over the past couple years that ambition changed and we are happy to say that we are loving our choice to stay in our 1950’s brick ranch. We are taking our time making it our own and it is one of the best decisions we have made. It is definitely a work-in-progress and I hope you enjoy the changes we have made so far.

Our living room has had a quite a makeover. It is quickly becoming my favorite room to spend time in.

The foyer of our home is separated by our fireplace and that leads into our living room.

The wall from our foyer is stenciled in black and white. I wanted the look of wall paper. I kept our hallway light and bright and have recently added the bamboo pagoda lantern.

Our fireplace had a major facelift. We painted the outdated stone, added a mantel, and tiled around the firebox with Carrara marble subway tile.

Through out our entry way and our living room I have used free or thrifted brass lighting and added black shades to them.

Our library wall was a fun DIY. We took Ikea BILLY bookcases and gave them a custom look with moldings and library lights.

Looking from the entry way into our living room, I added in some spring touches with some DIY abstract art I painted recently. I chose to float the furniture in this room and anchor the conversation area with an area rug.

I decided to add in different shades of pink and black and white for spring.

Fresh flowers, books, and new black and white pillows bring in spring touches.

Our bedroom also got dressed for spring recently. I brought in pops of coral and blue to the white and gray foundation.

I added some ribbon to plain IKEA Gurli pillow covers. The euro shams also bring in a little pattern.

I made the art on the walls and also added the wallpaper panels to bring in more texture. The lamps got a little more oomph with the coral ribbon added to the shades.

I scored a federal mirror at a flea market for next to nothing and love it in my bedroom.

My most recent spring project is actually my office space. I built this cabinet from scratch for Creating with the Stars and can now reveal that is actually for my office that I have been working on behind the scenes.

B @ H || Creating with the Stars KnockoffWe are in the middle of a kitchen remodel and part of it includes a new office space for me. This hutch is going to be used for work storage and I love it! I also made the black and white abstracts on the wall for a modern punch.

Moving outside I am awaiting the weather to cooperate so we can enjoy our patio and pond again…

Unfortunately, that is all I can show you of our home at the moment. We are remodeling our kitchen, just started our bathroom remodel, making our boys’ rooms over, and I’m fitting an office space in there somewhere. I can leave you with a few teasers of what I am working on though…

Our bathroom is getting a major overhaul with beautiful marble…

The boys’ rooms are coming together…here’s the direction we have decided on for each of them:

My office is taking shape and I am working on my desk area right now…

…then there is that whole kitchen situation going on! It’s about 50% finished…there is still a lot to tackle.

I’d like to thank Amy, Christy, and Terry for having me today! It’s so fun to share our little diamond in the rough with you guys. You can find me at my blog Bliss at Home where I share our home remodel, DIY projects, home decor, crafts and more!
