Welcome to our quarterly seasonal home tour, where we join up with a group of our blogging friends and share seasonal decor in our homes. The tour is hosted by our friend, Marty at A Stroll Thru Life who does all the organizing and planning for the tour (thank you Marty!), if you are joining us from Hymns and Verses, welcome! You can read more about both Christy and I here. We are a bit unique as we’re a blogging duo, and Christy is currently living in Germany so she is currently sharing her life abroad (in these strange times!). I live in Virginia with my family and today I’m sharing our spring home, so thank you for stopping by.
We’ve recently completed a long list of home projects, including our kitchen update (and breakfast room), remaking my daughter’s room and painting our dining room and some smaller projects like adding trim. It is nice to have everything feeling “done”, our house is only four years old but it takes awhile to finish a home and make it your own.
I typically don’t overly decorate for spring, I tend to go crazy at the holidays then the rest of the year I just switch out colors if and when I feel the urge. I actually kept the moss green pillows I used at Christmas and repurposed them for the coming spring. I just am still really on a green kick I guess, but I love green for spring. I will add in a few things for Easter as it gets closer but I am not one to add themed decor all over our home. I prefer to use neutral colors then just add different accent colors as the seasons change.
I also added a mix of faux plants and fresh flowers in honor of spring, they also help lighten and brighten up the house. I mixed in neutral pillows along with the green, including this bargain embroidered find.
It isn’t really spring here in Virginia yet, though we’ve had a few warm days that make me more than ready for it to fully arrive. I survive winter and pretty much look forward to warm weather the entire time, so in my opinion spring can’t come soon enough.
Here are the sources for the room~
I don’t really have any outdoor decor to show yet, it’s a bit soon here for any flowers or plants (but I can’t wait!) so I don’t have any porch or exterior photos to show you. I do, however, want to show you our entryway, I pretty much leave the blue and white up year round but it feels very spring like to me.
Our hallway is very simple, I refinished this console table and while eventually I’d like a different mirror here I tend to keep this area simple. I should probably swap out the silver glitter pinecones for moss covered spheres in the shell now that it’s spring, but a little sparkle isn’t ever a bad thing, right?
The last space I wanted to share today is our newly updated breakfast area. I am so thrilled with how this space turned out! What was a blank wall where I had a vintage hutch is now filled with cabinetry. I’ll share a whole post on how we did this (including the hack for the IKEA glass cabinets) in the next few weeks.
The new cabinets give us so much more space (and the wine fridge comes in handy too!) and it’s a fun little spot to decorate. I ordered this apple blossom illustration and framed it, it’s perfect for spring. I may switch this art out for open shelves and I do have brass sconces on order which I’ll hang over the art. They seem to be caught in the shipping delays going on right now, unfortunately they didn’t make it here before I took these photos.
This space is right off our kitchen, which we upgraded from builder basic last year (you can read more about that here), it’s a much more functional space for us now.
Thank you for stopping by our spring home today. The next home on the tour belongs to Yvonne of StoneGable, she is another neutral fan who recently downsized to a pretty golf course home.
Here is a list of everyone on the tour today, I hope you will stop by each one and see the pretty spaces.
