Master bathroom in browns and grays | 11 Magnolia Lane

Here’s an older post of ours; it’s our master bathroom four houses ago. This was one of my favorites, and I didn’t have to do a thing to it since the homeowners had beautiful taste. Enjoy! -Christy

I know it’s been awhile since we’ve showed you a decorating post–I blame it on summertime.  So today I thought I’d let you see our master bathroom.  I love it just the way it is and didn’t have to do a thing except dress it up a bit when we moved in.

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but our landlady is an artist, and a very talented decorator, and she painted and distressed the cabinets with an off-white flat paint.

The color coordinates perfectly with the grey granite and the deep brown-gray walls (Pittsburgh Paints Wicker Basket).

I brought in my silver, grey, and cream accessories to finish things off.

I’ve hung silver platters on the wall for three or four houses now.  I only take them down twice a year to polish them (usually right before our big Christmas party and then again in the spring), and I use {this} trick to hang them on the wall without using those metal plate holders because I dislike those for some reason.

One of the glass bottles is a Waterford perfume bottle that Amy gave me as a bridesmaid gift when I was in her wedding!

I usually buy pure white towels these days because they go with whatever house we’re currently living in and I can bleach them.  Some of them I’ve had monogrammed but I tend to save those for the guests. 🙂

I’ll admit that I don’t always drape stargazer lilies on my bathroom counter, but I do like a vase of fresh flowers in there.  Usually I cut whatever’s blooming in the yard.

That Tocca perfume smells amazing, and the bottles are works of art.

The steam shower is just off to the right in the below photo, and then the WC has its own separate area next to it.  My husband is madly in love with the steam shower–it works like a sauna and you can add essential oils to the steam, or just use it as a regular shower.  He would probably live in there if he could! #spoiledrotten

I have three of the valances and have used them in–wait for it–our last six houses, so they are definitely money well spent.  I had them monogrammed with brown thread to customize them, but they were only about $25 each originally (sources at the end of the post).  They’re so versatile because they will adjust to fit a variety of window sizes; you can see another one in my daughter’s room {here}.

If you live in a rental, too, you can see my tips for making it feel like home here, and you can see all of this home (our current NC home) here.  Or see the whole house, decorated for our big Christmas party {here}–Christmas in July, right?!

I’m not sure if I mentioned this on the blog, but we get one more year here in North Carolina (yay!) and then we’re supposed to move for my son’s senior year of high school (boo!).  There’s a good chance that the kids and I will stay here so he can finish up since there isn’t a classical school at our next duty station. But we’ll worry about that next year; for now we’re just thrilled that we didn’t have to move again after just one year here in NC, because you all know that our last move nearly killed me.

Enjoy your Sunday, friends, and thanks for stopping by!

I love your frames mirrors over the two sinks. It’s always such a nice touch vs counter to ceiling mirrors 🙂 Plus they are easier to clean!

Gorgeous bathroom! I can’t decide which aspect I like best! This post has made me so impatient! My household goods don’t arrive until sometime around the 23rd of August. Argh! Lol

I just love your ideas, especially the silver trays. I have often wondered how to use my trays that I gravitate to in antique and repurpose stores. Thanks for all your wonderful Tips.

Thanks so much, Susan. I can never say no to a thrift shop silver piece, either. Glad you got some good ideas!

I loved your balloon curtains so much I had to buy them but please help me!!! I can’t for the life of me get them to “balloon”…how did you do it? Can you tell me how many rings you actually used?

Mine are on the second ring down. My fabric is cotton and they puff really nicely on their own, but if your fabric is something less stiff, you can stuff them with tissue paper or packing paper. I hope that helps!
