It’s getting to be THAT time of year–and I love it!   Friends drop by spontaneously “just to say hi,” and then stick around for dinner.  Or (and this happens a lot when you live in Savannah), friends and family use you as a pit stop on their way to and fro during their holiday travels.  I’m not complaining, though–we love when we have guests!

I’ve learned over the years just to be ready for visitors at all times.  Don’t fool yourselves, my house isn’t always clean and uncluttered, because we are real people, but hospitality isn’t about having a perfectly clean and decorated house.  It’s about making your guests feel welcome, even when they’re unexpected.  And I won’t lie, that usually involves feeding them!

Here’s a quick list for how I stay ready to entertain at all times:

You’ve seen my guest book before in {this} post, and I love to look back to see who we’ve hosted in the past.

When it comes to feeding a crowd, there are a few recipes that have stood the test of time in our house.  One of my favorite meals is flank steak, because you can slice it thin and add a few extra sides (or an appetizer) and stretch it to feed unexpected guests.

This recipe, for flank steak with cilantro sauce, is one of my family’s FAVORITES.  Keep the ingredients on hand at all times (they’re pretty simple) and you’ll always be ready to feed a crowd:

The cilantro sauce is so pretty, too–I love food that looks good enough to eat! 🙂

I don’t know how it happened, but I’m down to only eight “real” plates, so I always keep a supply of disposables on hand because how else can I feed an army?

SOLO® is my new go-to brand because the plates can actually hold a decent amount of food and don’t collapse on you.  And I am dying over their holiday colors–if you follow us on Instagram, then you saw the picture I posted of their gorgeous gold cups when I saw them in the grocery store!  They were sold out of those when I went back for them, but they have their Squared cups in all different colors, including clear.

And have you seen their ‘It’s My Solo’ cups–bringing the concept of a chalkboard-like label to your cup ( my daughter is clearly obsessed)?!

Can you say “brilliant”?!  Not every cup is a SOLO® cup! BUT, they’re about more than cups (check out the Squared plates above!).  They also offer paper, heavy duty, and premium strength products.

And I love how their selection of colors lets me customize to whatever event I’m hosting–down here, that’s usually Georgia colors, but since I’m a Duke grad, I go blue whenever I can! The folks at SOLO® are Up For Anything (just like me!), as you can see in these SOLO® Up for Anything videos:
