bunco cupcakes party

Last week, a friend and I co-hosted a bunco party for the ladies in our battalion.  To say that we had fun planning it would be an understatement–with great ideas all over Pinterest, it was easy, too.  If you want to take a look at the Bunco board I started, just click {here}.  Most (if not all) of the sources I mention below are pinned to that board.

The cupcakes started it all.  The pins I found featuring them were photos uploaded by the users, rather than linked to a website or blog, but they were a great starting point.  I bought black and white polka dot cupcake liners at Michael’s and used a white cake mix with homemade buttercream frosting, tinted pale pink.  If you don’t already have a favorite buttercream frosting recipe, I always use the one from Back in the Day Bakery in Savannah–one of my favorite places in town.  If you love to read and collect cookbooks, then you must put {this} one on your list!  I was in there last week for a cupcake and they were shooting photos for their next cookbook–I can’t wait to see it!

The dice are simply sugar cubes, dotted with an edible pen.  One recommendation I have is that you put the sugar cubes onto the frosting just prior to serving.  They tend to soak moisture out of the frosting and eventually the pips on the dice will start to bleed.

I stacked two cake pedestals to make a tower, and you probably noticed that I used the small chalkboard frames I made just a few weeks ago on the table, too.

When piping cupcakes, if you don’t have a pastry bag, or you just hate cleaning them, cut the tip of a gallon ziploc bag and toss it when you’re done:

Since this was a ladies-only evening, we started with a pink, black and white color scheme.  We found great printables that fit the bill at Lil’ Luna by Amanda’s Parties to Go:

Our guests arrived a bit earlier than I had expected, so I didn’t get to take as many pictures as I wanted, but here are a few snaps of the table:

In the foreground of the above picture, you can see the black and white chevron and polka dot labels that we used as name tags; print them out {here}.

The White Strawberry Lemon Sangria recipe (another Pinterest find) was delicious–thank you, KitchenTreaty.com!

I made a really cute bunting to hang on the front of the table and forgot to take a picture of it–doh!  Since we’ll be doing this again soon, I’ll just have to remember to take one then.

Thinking about hosting a bunco party?  Besides yummy food and drinks, here’s what you need:

You also will need adorable bunco printables, so download the free ones I linked to earlier, or you can try {these}.

Hope you roll nothing but Buncos, and thanks for stopping by!

Amanda’s Parties to Go…what a choice. Because I have five little grandsons, I would choose the cowboy or the farm birthday party kits. Or, a ballerina party for my one grand daughter.
