My review of the Oreck Elevate Cordless Vacuum
OK, who gets excited about getting a new vacuum? I definitely do. I recently was gifted the new Oreck Elevate vacuum to try out and I am happy to say it is my favorite vacuum to date.

We have been brand loyal to Oreck since we built our first home here in Virginia decades ago. At the time, despite having little disposable income after construction was complete, my husband insisted we get a new Oreck vacuum to keep our brand new floors and carpets clean. His rationale was that an Oreck vacuum was what his mother had always used (and anyone who knows my Mother in Law knows that she knows her stuff!) and he knew a good Oreck vacuum would last for many, many years.

What is funny is that my husband doesn’t typically have opinions on these household type things, but in this case he was right. His point was we should invest in a quality machine, maintain it regularly and it would serve us well rather than buying cheaper vacuums we’d just wind up replacing. Over the years that is exactly what we’ve done. This is my third Oreck in the span of my marriage (and I have been married a LONG time!) but I will say I love this one the most.

There are a few things that make this one my favorite. First of all, it is battery powered so there is no cord to deal with. That makes it so much easier to clean quickly, and the battery lasts for three hours so I can vacuum my entire house on just one charge. I actually tested it out to make sure, and was even able to finish our basement which almost never gets cleaned! Once the battery is depleted it charges up again quickly in just a few hours. Other cordless vacuums I have tried can only go for a few minutes before they die so I could only clean one area at a time, this was a huge difference in power and battery life.

The other nice surprise was that this vacuum is self-propelled; it is not only very lightweight but it practically moves along your floor on its own. It transitions easily between carpet and hardwood, picking up pretty much anything in its path. With two dogs, we really need to vacuum daily at least in our kitchen/living area so this makes our life so much easier. It even stops itself when it is set upright to conserve battery life.

You can get a new Oreck shipped directly to you and after a few hours of charging up you will be ready to vacuum your entire home. I love that they offer service at their retail locations, a quick cleaning and maintenance visit each year has always helped extend the life of our Oreck vacuums and kept us coming back to this brand time and time again.
While all the machines I have had worked well, this latest model was definitely worth the investment. I feel comfortable using it knowing it captures 99.7% of particles using HEPA filtration. While it isn’t a bagless vacuum, the bags hold 4 times more than a typical bagless which means you rarely need to switch out the bag.
