An Organization Epiphany {Homework Boxes}

So, this last weekend we celebrated my husband’s birthday, and even though it was his big day, I am the one who learned something.

On Saturday I was enjoying a rare child-free trip Target to finish up some back-to-school items {and yes, buy him a birthday card}, when I suddenly got anxious about getting his birthday gifts wrapped.  I know, if I was a “good” blogger :) , I would have a perfectly organized wrapping area and this task would be a pleasure, right?

So, when I got home I was thinking about how, since we moved last fall, I still had wrapping paper stored under the guest room bed, gift bags stashed in an armoire, gift cards in a drawer in my office, and {hopefully} tape and scissors somewhere in my kitchen drawers. It would certainly make sense to pull it all together in one place. After all, with three kids there is always a present for a party, teachers etc., and the holidays are coming, yikes!

{source}

But then, I started thinking about how if a wrapping “kit” helped with one chore, wouldn’t the concept work for all the other areas where I felt some stress my life? So, I sat down with a pad of paper made a list of all the small chores, events or activities that might possibly be made less stressful with a “kit.”

Things on the list–I randomly jotted down anything that popped into my head–like the morning rush to school, the afternoon dash to activities, school papers, homework, meals, cleaning, etc.

None of these are novel ideas (and all have been done at some point in “Blogland” and easily found on Pinterest), I just haven’t put a priority on using them as a method to keeping myself more sane.

This sudden manifestation of my OCD is definitely a result of the impending start of school. Over the last few years, with my kids getting older I feel like I have a harder time managing the three different directions they are going in, not to mention that each child has different needs and skill sets.

So here is what I am going to try to do. It will likely take several posts but I am going to look at different components of my/our life and trying to figure out some better systems. While a “kit” might work in some cases, and even in some ways I hadn’t thought of before, some trouble areas in our life just need better systems.

So, I am still working through all the parts of life that I can fit into this category–have suggestions? Areas you struggle with? Please leave them at the bottom of the post. I wish I could say I thought I would have some life-changing solutions to some of the big ones–like organizing pictures (the bane of my existence) or cleaning the house–but getting a grip on the small things may make more time for the bigger things, right?

So, I debated over the several projects I jumped into this week and with school starting, the homework boxes I made seemed to be a good as any place to start.

My kids still need oversight with their homework, so they work right at our kitchen table, and we have had nights of tired meltdowns when the lack of a readily available pencil sharpener was just too much to handle on top of 20 waiting math problems. So I created not one, but two homework boxes.

{Sharing? Why borrow trouble! Each of my boys got their own box.}

The boxes are filled with a ruler, a pencil sharpener, plenty of extra pencils, crayons/markers, scissors, tape, and erasers.  I grabbed everything at Target during the back to school sale.  I also made a new folder for all the classroom papers regarding homework, like weekly spelling words, so we won’t have to track them down each night. I want them to learn to manage their own work, and have all the supplies they might need so they can function independently. Since these boxes are portable, if a quieter spot is needed then the kitchen table, the box can just be taken along. In the meantime, my new kitchen hutch has the perfect little spot to tuck them away when they are not needed.

I have also spent time this week organizing mealtime, meal planning and my food shopping. I can honestly say that while this overhaul has been in the works for longer then 24 hours, it has really made a difference in my life. {In the meantime, see Terry’s In the Kitchen Series HERE which provides meal plans and shopping lists and are such a huge help to me}.

I received this cute fridge calendar as a gift {thanks Caroline!} and its going to be a nice part of my meal planning endeavor.

Also on my list are topics like the morning rush/lunchboxes, cleaning, managing activities, school paperwork, the holidays (that’s the big one!)… my list is still growing. Feel free to chime in, I don’t profess to have any better clue then anyone else out there, I am just committed to helping my children (and myself) function better by providing a calmer, organized environment for us all. So, please feel free to make this a Magnolia Lane community effort–leave your tips, comments, problem areas, suggestions, links to posts with solutions, you name it, I can’t wait to see it.

Thanks for stopping by~

Organizing and Projects Recap

Hello, and welcome to everyone who has jumped over from I {Heart} Organizing today. We couldn’t be more honored to be featured there today!

We are three friends who started blogging together almost two years ago, just for fun, and since then it has grown into a great way to stay motivated, creative and productive. Christy and Amy both moved to new homes this year and have been working hard to make them feel like home.  Today we thought we’d recap some of our favorite 11 Magnolia Lane projects.

{You can view a shared tour of our homes HERE}.

Before we jump into our home projects, if you have never seen our In the Kitchen with 11 Magnolia Lane series, take a look while you are here. Its probably our best organizing tool–because it answers the “what’s for dinner?” daily dilemma with menus, recipes and shopping lists designed to keep you from feeling crazed every evening. Terry comes up with a healthy, delicious menu each season, so the new Fall menu will be coming soon.

Back to some inspirational eye candy… since this pantry seems to be a Pinterest favorite, we’ll start here. Christy tackled her small pantry in her historic NC home, not only organizing it but jazzing it up with ribbon, chalkboard decals for shopping lists and mason jars to contain her staples.

Another great idea from Christy’s old kitchen was this week-at-a-glance wall calendar, made from peel and stick chalkboard panels.  What a great way to keep the week’s events front and center!

Week at a Glance Wall Calendar

Then, after relocating to Tennessee, she didn’t let wire shelves get in the way of making her New Pantry just as pretty as the rest of her newly redone kitchen. {Her complete kitchen makeover is here, Part 1 and Part 2}. And, we all agree every pantry needs a chandelier! Right?

Shortly after moving in and overhauling her kitchen, Christy tackled her new laundry room, you can see that post HERE.

Terry also undertook a major project earlier this year, turning unused space in her basement into her Kids’ Learning Center. It’s tucked right next to her desk/workspace so the kids have a dedicated area to work on homework and art projects away from the rest of the house.

As Jen mentioned, Amy just finished a huge project. Her Mom’s recent birthday gift was a makeover of her basement work/craft/sewing room. The complete post on that project is HERE.

Thank you for visiting with us today, and thanks again, Jen, for featuring us. We hope you will stop by 11 Magnolia Lane and visit with us again soon!

Workroom/Craft Room Reveal!

After another quick two day trip to my Mom’s, her birthday present workroom makeover (click to view the back story) is complete! Well, almost complete–the wrapping station was finished up after I headed home, as well as the installation of the ironing area, but its come a long way. I will photograph those final additions on my next trip and hopefully show you next week.

Here is the "in progress" picture

This is by far my favorite room makeover I have ever done, the hardest part was keeping my Mom away from the room the last few days so she could enjoy the surprise of the final reveal.

Seeing this look on her face was worth all the work that went into her room.

I could never have done this without Terry’s help, she was my partner in hauling bookcases from IKEA, figuring out furniture placement, and tirelessly stenciling the inset wall. Not to mention her cute photostyling ideas and photography. My Dad was a trooper through all this, I am not sure he expected this would be this elaborate of a makeover when my Mom and I started talking about it! While he managed to disappear during “Stage One” on a fishing trip, when he returned he built her the wrapping station, and hired an electrician to install a fixture and hang her new chandelier.

Just as a reminder, here are the BEFORE’s of the work/craft/storage/sewing/ironing room.

And…BIG DRUMROLL…. here are the AFTER’s….

These sillouettes were done when my brother and I were in preschool (they are just the “trace-the-shadow-on-the -paper” using an overhead projector kind!) and I found them in the room and had to use them. Terry helped me cover an artist’s canvas and just glued them on. Despite their age, I love that they have sentimental value to my Mom, and her grown kids are still on display!

The room is filled with repurposed favorites, the white chair was part of my grandmother’s dining set. With a little paint, new matching fabric and a vinyl monogram it took on a whole new life. The fabric covering on the table once was my daughter’s window treatment in her baby nursery.

Inexpensive IKEA storage boxes and baskets hide all the decor, sewing materials and other supplies she keeps in the room. My Mom has an entire collection (dating from the early 90′s) of Victoria Magazine, it’s now neatly organized in IKEA magazine holders.

The stenciled wall is probably my favorite thing. The DIY stencil {instructions HERE} cost $3.95 to make and was exactly the look I wanted in the niche.

Thanks for viewing this space, working on it was a ball and I just hope that my Mom feels happy every time she enters her room. Happy Birthday Mom!

A Craft/Workroom in Progress

I was beyond touched when my Mom asked me if I would makeover her craft/sewing/ironing/wrapping/decor storage {from here on out I will just call it her “workroom”, as she does!} room for a birthday present this year.

Here is the before…

The room, which is in their basement, was finished by the previous owners into an exercise room, which will explain the huge mirror on one wall. Its a nice size room, and how nice is it that she has a space that can be dedicated to these type of pursuits.

My challenge was the kind of thing I love, to figure out how to store all these assorted items, create a space for her to sew, wrap gifts and iron, plus of course, make the room beautiful so she would enjoy spending time in there.

{I should disclaim that the rest of my parents home is perfectly clean, organized and decorated. This is the basement space in the home where things that didn’t belong in the other perfectly clean and organized spaces just accumulated!}

I had visions of being a little further along with this project by the end of this week, but all in all, we came pretty far considering I had three kids in tow that required their fill of pool time and summer fun, I battled a virus and we started from complete scratch in the room on Monday morning.

First off Monday morning, we went out to pick paint. We already knew our color scheme (she wanted pale green and rose pink). Because the room has no windows (part of the reason that we left the mirror on the wall to reflect light, the other reason would be the drywall damage that would ensue from taking it down), I went straight to a Benjamin Moore Natura paint, which they promise is almost odorless. While it was expensive, it was amazing in its coverage, and truly had hardly any paint odor.

My Mom selected Apple Blossom as the color.

Next we went fabric shopping, unfortunately to no avail due to the small fabric selection in her area, so we came home and ordered fabric online. My plan is to head home and work on the fabric accents and bring them back in another week or so and hopefully finish the room up.

Finally, sweet Terry tagged along with me to IKEA and we came home with all this (and much more not shown) to tackle storage issues in the room.

Today, Terry and I knocked out assembling the Billy bookcases, and went over final plans and storage strategies for the room.

She also came up with the brilliant plan to use this table (which had just been sitting right outside the room being used for another purpose) instead of having to create a new built-in work table for the alcove.

So, we have to head back home (across the state) this weekend but I will be back to finish this room up, hopefully in the next week or two. Its hard to leave it half done, but my Mom is being patient and in the end, I am hopeful the result will be worth it.

Here is the current To-Do List:

  • Paint new worktable white
  • Decorative finish on the wall behind the bookcases
  • Hang Chandelier
  • Paint her sewing cabinet, and makeover chair
  • Make the fabric accents
  • Miscellaneous Items {since my Mom reads our Blog, everything else falls under this category so I can keep a few things I have planned for her a surprise}
Its been a great week, with lots of fun seeing old friends mixed in with the projects–the perfect summer week in my opinion! So, stay tuned for the full reveal, I can’t wait to see it done either.

Get Organized~~Simple Decoupaged Bulletin Board!

I’ve been saving this project for awhile and it seems perfect for summer.  In some ways, summer is even busier than the school year for us, because we have no set schedule and it seems like we spend a lot of time away from home on various vacations and trips to visit family (not that I’m complaining!).  Still, a fast and easy project always helps me to feel like I’m getting things accomplished, even when I don’t have time to spend days on it.

When I decorated my master bedroom sitting area/office (read about that HERE), I went with a mostly black and white color scheme, which I’ll admit is my usual go-to palette for decorating.  I already had a black-framed bulletin board that was in our bonus room, but not getting much use, so I decided to give it a facelift using decoupage paste and black and white damask wrapping paper.  Here’s what I started out with:

I bought my bulletin board at Hobby Lobby when it was 50% off and I’m sure it was under $20.  You can pick up the cheaper bulletin boards for WAY less and all you’d need to do it spray paint the frame the color you want.  There’s one in my daughter’s room that we bought for $1 at a yard sale and then sprayed celery green from top to bottom.

The wrapping paper was also from Hobby Lobby (I spend a lot of money there!) and it’s nice quality–thick and shiny, which I think is important when you’re going to be getting it wet with Mod Podge glue.  If you’ve never decoupaged before, then this is an easy project to get started on.  Seriously, just follow the instructions on the bottle!  And while there are probably other decoupage pastes on the market, Mod Podge is synonymous with decoupage (like “Kleenex” is with tissues!) so I use them interchangeably.

I used a foam brush to apply paste to the board, then carefully smoothed on the wrapping paper (cut to size, of course).  I then applied a top layer of Mod Podge and smoothed out the wrinkles.  The paper will look hazy, but that’s normal until the glue dries.  If you’re neater than me, then try to keep the glue off of the bulletin board molding.  Otherwise, wipe it off with a wet paper towel. :)

When the paper had dried nicely onto the bulletin board, I used this black braided trim around the inner edge to disguise some of my less-than-perfect straight edges.  I simply glue-gunned it into place, and I think it makes it look more finished.  A contrasting color (white, hot pink, green, etc) would also have looked nice.

Here’s the finished product, once again:

And here’s the bulletin board, in use.  Notice that most of the surface is covered with “stuff” already–kind of ironic, huh? :)

An Organization Home Tour by Ashli at Mini Manor

Having finally cleared out the boxes from our move in last fall (is the statute of limitations finally up on using “recently moved” as an excuse for all my incomplete house projects? :) ) I have been going back through the house and really organizing things. We have had to adjust to our new but smaller space (especially as far as storage in the kitchen) and its making me really focus on keeping only what I need and use.

I recently discovered Ashli at Mini Manor’s wonderful Blog, and after spending hours (at least it seemed like) staring at all her beautifully organized spaces and getting truly inspired by her, I decided to see if she would be kind enough to share some of her spaces here at Magnolia Lane. I was thrilled when she said Yes.

So here is Ashli, she is just the greatest, read on down (and then go check out her Blog) and I know you will agree!

 ********

I am thrilled to be on Eleven Magnolia Lane today. Thank you so much Amy for asking me, and thank you Christy and Terry for having me too. Blogging with your best girlfriends sounds like so much fun, I am completely jealous of you three.

My name is Ashli and I blog over at Mini Manor. I live in British Columbia with my husband and our fur baby Max, I believe our homes should be organized, simplified and green and I spend my mornings blogging about just that.

Amy asked me if I would share some of our organizing solutions with you, so here are some of the solutions we found for our home.

First, the room in everyone’s home that can benefit the most from some serious organization . . . the Kitchen!

I have a large cookbook collection, I decided that it would make more sense to store the cookbooks in the kitchen where they get used, so I lined the top shelf with over 100 cookbooks.

Also,

Our cabinets go up 9 feet in the air so sometimes I needed a little help reaching the top shelf, we installed pull down shelves made by Rubbermaid, a really quick and easy solution.

A couple of cork tiles, on the inside of the cabinet door beside the stove, holds recipes I find and plan on trying, if it’s a good one it goes into the recipe book, if it was bad I throw it out.

I always found it difficult to organize pots and pans. I had them nesting inside each other which ended up scratching their surfaces. We found these organizers at Lowes and they’re awesome. They keep everything tidy and easy to access.
My Tupperware cupboard was always in disarray. We had 5 different types of containers, none of which stacked up nicely together. We finally invested in the same glass containers and now they stack up easily, no more hunting for a lid.
While I love to cook . . . sometimes the answer to what’s for dinner is Take-Out. I used one of Martha Stewart’s plastic pockets to hold our take out menus inside of our pantry cupboard.
And speaking of the pantry cupboard, we have deep pantry cabinets so to take advantage of all the depth we installed pull out shelves for our dry goods. The shelves were around $15 each and totally worth it. Underneath the baskets we store our baking goods. I use simple plastic containers from Ikea, BPA free of course.
And lastly, our knife/Spice Drawer. I’m a stickler when it comes to knives, they need to be SHARP. A great knife organizer is so important. I’m also a stickler for clear countertops so an in-drawer spice rack was a great find for us. The labels are from Staples, they are part of Martha’s new line.
Moving out of the kitchen now, I recently organized my desk cupboard. I figured since it was totally covered up, and it was mine (no husbands allowed) why not make it PINK.
Another area of our house that is always in desperate need of organization is our mudroom! A simple shelving system from Home Depot, or a inexpensive bench from Ikea, makes a world of difference in a small space.
And finally the super easy organizer, that has made my morning routine 10 times easier . . . these jewelry organizers we made out of Cutlery Trays and Cup hooks.
I hope you enjoyed our Organization Home Tour! Please pop by and say HI, you can find us at www.MiniManorBlog.com.
A BIG Thank You to the Eleven Magnolia Lane girls, Amy, Christy and Terry for having me on today! I’ve never done an organization house tour before . . . It might be my new favorite house tour ;) .
*****************

I will be back soon to show some of my newly organized spaces, many of which were inspired by Ashli. We are so thrilled she came by 11 Magnolia Lane and shared here today. She has so much more on her Blog, so stop over and visit her.

Have a great weekend and a Happy Mother’s Day… I am heading up to celebrate my belated birthday with Terry and share Mother’s Day with my Mom and I can’t wait.

Home Office and Learning Center Progress

A few months ago, the ladies here at 11 Magnolia Lane shared our home goals for 2012.  One of my goals was to turn a portion of our basement into an office for me and an educational center for my children.    I am thrilled to say, our office has been designed and installed so now it is time to decorate.

I have to admit, decorating doesn’t always come easily to me, I often call Amy and Christy in for validation.  What would I do without them?

So here are some photos of the old office and as you can see, it was a blank canvas.

Basement prior to installation

Here is the new and improved basement office.  I am really excited to have my own desk and space, and just look at all the additional storage I have as well!

My children are just as excited and are begging me to buy them chairs so they can do their homework at their new desks.  I guess I has better get on it before they lose motivation to do their school work.  IKEA, here we come!!

As you can see, there is a lot of open shelving that I need to fill and keep organized.  I also have some corner bookshelves that are exposed so I will need to find baskets and/or bins to help maintain an orderly look.

I have been pulling some inspiration from the web and these are a few examples of what I like.

Of course I found an office with red accents… if you know me at all, you know I love RED!!!

Red and white office with open shelving from Decor Pad

Here is another great office from Houzz.  I love the cork board and the black and white organizational baskets.  Moving forward in 2012, I am committed to streamlining the decor in my home.  Now that we have ebony floors on our main level, I feel that black and white is the direction I am moving toward.   It is simply a timeless color combination and it allows you to add pops of color throughout your home.  The example below has blue accents, which I really liked.

Farinelli Construction Inc eclectic home office

Here is a chair that I have been pining over for months.  It is called the Zuo Modern Premiere Leather Office chair and costs well over $550.00.  That is way out of our budget, especially since I am looking for 3 chairs that match.

Here’s the chair…isn’t it beautiful!?

Zou Modern Desk Chair

I cannot wait to decorate and share the final office reveal.  Amy and I are heading to Ikea this week where I plan to pick up tons of organizational supplies to help me design and organize my new basement work space.

Thrift Store Letter Organizer and Mildred & Mable’s Giveaway Winner!

Hey guys–sorry for the delay in posting the winner of the Mildred & Mable’s giveaway–Chris and I spent the weekend creating faux built in bookshelves in the master bathroom from an Ikea Billy bookcase (reveal coming soon, but of course I screwed up the coping on the crown molding and have to buy another piece before it’s all done and I can show the “after”).

Drumroll, please….Amy at A New Old House (comment #1), you are the winner of the Tokyo Milk hand cream and gorgeous ruby red ring!  I sent you an email, so please reply with your address and I’ll ship that out to you ASAP.  Can’t wait to hear what you think of it.  And many thanks, once again, to Andrea at Mildred & Mable’s in Clarksville, TN, for providing the awesome goodies.  We have another giveaway coming soon (enamel house numbers) so stay tuned!

And, because I don’t want to leave you without a little eye candy, here’s the cutest little letter organizer (or bill organizer, although that’s not as fun) that I found at Goodwill for $1.49.  I added black vinyl numbers using my new Silhouette Cameo and I love how it turned out.  It’s going to go in my master bedroom sitting area–I’m planning to carve out a tiny desk area.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Place to Create–My Teeny-Tiny Craft Area

Right before Christmas, I decided that I was sick to death of hiding my sewing machine in the guest room closet every time I was done using it.  Surely (if I moved around several incredibly heavy pieces of furniture), surely there was room to carve out a craft corner.  I already had an old sewing machine table I’d found at Goodwill years ago and painted white…I abandoned all plans of cooking dinner, which is what I was supposed to be doing (sorry honey!), and started moving furniture.

I painted the old sewing table and a thrift store chair in robin’s egg blue.  In hindsight, I probably should have used a blue chalk paint so they’d be a little more muted (I used spray paint for immediate gratification), but it’s safe to say that they’ll be painted again one of these days, so I’m not going to stress over it.  I covered the chair TWICE before my third try made me happy–Amy Butler’s Love Bliss fabric.  The teal and aqua colors match my old mason jars.

Old chair recovered with Amy Butler's Love Bliss fabric in teal.

I already had the two white shelves with fancy scrolled corbels.  My dad made them with me years ago (one of my first DIY projects!) to hang on either side of my recessed bathtub area in another house.  I just hadn’t figured out where to put them in this house yet.  They’re perfect above the sewing machine to hold notions and other crafting goodies.

I made the banner–it was my first attempt at such things!  The flags need to be twice as long as they are wide, so just cut them any size you want based on those guidelines.  I used tiny clothespins to clip them to the ribbon, which I thought was very crafty (LOL).

Let me give some credit where credit is due here:  the “Get Excited and Make Things” printable can be found HERE and the cute number tags can be found at HERE.

I love old spice jars–the apothecary-style ones–and I picked up this spice rack at the thrift store.  It holds my tri-beads, organized by color.

Why do I have so many tri-beads, you ask?  I have one crafty-type thing that I can do, and that’s crochet bead socks for all the little girls in my life.  Here’s an old pair of Annabelle’s to show you what I’m talking about:

Because I do sew things from time to time, I thought it would be fun and different to mount a yardstick on the wall to make measuring easier.  I had an old one from my grandmother’s house in Michigan, and I love that it says “Big Rapids” (her town) on it.  I secured it on the wall using 3M’s command tape (just no hooks this time).

Do you like my ribbon organizer/dispenser?  I love those things, but I didn’t want to go out and buy one (not that there’s anything wrong with you if you do!).  I had a wooden curtain rod in my garage, not being used, and when I played around with it, I realized that it was small enough to hold ribbon and small enough to go through the scrolled corbels of my lower shelf.  I just cut it to fit and spray painted it blue (I’ll probably spray it white one of these days).  Not bad, huh?

Yes, I do have more ribbon that just that.  The overflow is stored in the little green box on the first shelf (pictured below) and in the dresser I have in the closet.

On the opposite wall is that old entertainment center armoire that I painted green in this post.  It’s not being used for its true purpose in this house because we had to juggle the TVs around to make them work in this floor plan.  But it’s great for holding some of my family’s quilts and overflow craft supplies.

Closed--to hide the big mess inside!

Open--because I like letting it all hang out!

I’ve got one more thing to do.  The spice rack that’s currently living in the armoire needs to be mounted on the wall to the right of the sewing machine.  Spice racks are the perfect size to hold acrylic paint bottles, and they make a colorful display all on their own.  You can find an old spice rack at the thrift store almost any time you walk in there.

My craft area is smaller than ten square feet, but it’s big enough to hold everything that I need, and I’m happy with the colorful and fun way that it turned out.

Update:  I mounted the spice rack on the wall.  All of my paints dried out in the move this summer, so while I work on re-building my collection, I put my vials of glitter on the rack instead.  The downside to this plan was that my daughter took the blue glitter and sprinkled it all over her desk and nightstand to “jazz up my room a little, Mommy.”  Yeah…glitter defeats even my Dyson!

Thanks for stopping by!

Planning a Dinner Party {& Printable}

The Party Dress

I love to plan parties. Anyone who knows me knows that. In fact, I enjoy the planning, staging and getting ready for the party as much as actually being at one. { So, its probably no surprise that a portion of my business revolves around event design?}

So, my parties have fallen off a bit in recent years…with children, work and other issues I haven’t done nearly the entertaining I used to. I decided this week I was going to change that. And, so I am planning a “Dinner Party” this weekend with some of our closest friends.

While our time with our friends here in this area is short (as we are moving, I may have mentioned it about 100 times?) and so I want to savor what time we have left here with them. And, OK, my two boys are going on a trip with their Grandparents this weekend so with only one child to worry about (how easy is that?) its the perfect time to have some “quality” adult time. I also admit to being  inspired by this post at  At The Picket Fence that Heather wrote about the TV show Thirty Something.

In describing the premise of the “30-Somethings” on the show she wrote..

“You know cool people.
Hip people.
Grown ups with complex lives and secret relationships.
People who have cocktail parties and couple’s dinners where they all sit around for hours and laugh and talk over their wine glasses.”

Photo AMC

So right then and there I decided it was time to get us all together and have a dinner where we could all sit around for hours and laugh and talk over {our} wineglasses.
So, the party is about 48 hours away, and I have yet to figure out much of what I am doing. I typically plan everything I can out ahead of time. I am too busy to make multiple trips to the store, and I have learned that if I organize I can enjoy the event more. I also promised myself my husband I was going to keep it as simple as possible and not get stressed out.
Since I still need to plan, I made up a little printable to help organize this party, and really any party. I usually jot everything down in a journal type notebook but this sheet will keep everything on one page, including a shopping list. Feel free to download it to use {PLEASE become a Follower if you do, we like to know who is enjoying our stuff! } Also, feel free to leave in the comments section any suggestions that would be helpful and I can modify this form.

{Click Below to Download this Printable}

Party Plan Printable

So, I am off to work on my “spring” tablescape and double check my recipes so I can finish my shopping list. But, check back Monday– I will be sure to post about the night. I am sure it will be a fun evening!
{Note: just in case a “dinner party” sounds really boring to everyone who is not yet “30-something” I  am very lucky that my husband did some bartending in his past and therefore things don’t usually stay boring at our parties for long!} LINKING UP AT:
