Open House at Christy’s–Updated Home Tour

Open house at 11 Magnolia Lane

Front porch at 11 Magnolia Lane

If you’ve been hanging out on Magnolia Lane with us for any amount of time, you know that Terry’s about to bring Baby Boy K into the world and that Amy and I are getting ready to move.  To say that we’ve all been just a bit frantic these last few weeks would be an understatement.  Amy showed you guys her updated home tour {here} a few weeks ago, right before they put their home on the market.  Gorgeous!  Well, we just put ours on the rental market a few days ago, and I’m going to give you a tour, too.  As I look back and realize that I’ve painted every single room (except for the two-story great room) and completed projects throughout the house, I have to admit that I do feel like I’ve accomplished a lot in the almost-tw0-years that we’ve lived here.

Here’s my favorite place to sit while I watch the kids ride their bikes:

But you probably wanted to see inside, so, without further ado, come on in!

My foyer opens directly into the dining room on the right, with the great room straight ahead.  I keep a little old chippy dresser in the hall and store table linens in the drawers–so convenient for entertaining!

The dining room has undergone a transformation, with painted walls, a new chandelier, open shelving, and painted window treatments.  I love how it turned out–not too formal, not too casual, but JUST RIGHT!  Read about the dining room and see more photos {here} and {here}.  By the way, the dining room table and chairs just got a coat of white chalk paint, plus new fabric on the chairs (complete with a monogram because I’m addicted), so expect another update on how I did all that soon.

Our great room has a huge two-story bank of windows on the rear wall.  Thank goodness I loved the paint color (Fawn Brindle by Sherwin Williams) because it would have been a challenge to paint!  We have great built-ins on either side of the gas fireplace, and my stained glass window has pride of place, as always.  Many of you know that the window is from the church in which my parents were married.  My mom’s been gone for ten years now, and I find it so comforting to have some of her favorite things in my own home.

The stairway separates the great room from the kitchen, although the entire downstairs is nice and open.  My kitchen has had tons of work done to it, as many of you know.  We started out with blue walls, cherry cabinets, black appliances, and a brown tile backsplash, and wound up with this:

The Better Homes & Gardens special interest magazine (Kitchen + Bath Makeovers) featuring my kitchen hit newsstands earlier in March, and I’ve gotten permission to show you a couple of the amazing photos they shot (below).  It’s truly amazing what a professional photographer, stylist, and lighting can accomplish!  Read more about the projects I did in the kitchen {here} and {here}.

The pantry was a great big corner space, but it had white wire shelves (my nemesis) so I ripped them out and built solid shelving instead.  I put in a chandelier while I was at it–why not?

The laundry room is nestled between the kitchen and the dining room.  This room was so fun to decorate–from the painted wallpaper, to the Ballard Designs drying rack, to the cafe style shelving I built.  After a search for the perfect metal storage cabinet, I found it at the Nashville flea market (I will SO miss that flea market when we move!).  The laundry room was featured in the January 2013 issue of Cottages & Bungalows magazine–very exciting!

Just off the kitchen is the screened porch.  This was on my must-have list when we moved here.  My hubby is irresistible to mosquitoes and this is the only way I can keep him outside in the summertime.  I put a chandelier out here and added sheers to one of the side walls, both for privacy and to block the sun.  We eat dinner out here during the warm months, and it’s a great spot to relax with a glass of wine in the evening.

The powder room got a major facelift, too, going from dark brown to bright white with paint and beadboard.  I changed out the light fixture, painted the mirror, and added decoupaged toile switch plates.

Our master bedroom is on the first floor; our kids are old enough that this worked out wonderfully.  This space started out apple green, and after three gallons of Benjamin Moore’s Pebble Beach, the bedroom (all the way up to the cathedral ceiling), sitting area (which is my 11 Magnolia Lane “office”), and bathroom were a much more restful color!  The bedroom and sitting room redo is {here} (although the sitting room has changed again since then), and the master bath redo is {here}.

We have his and hers walk in closets between the bedroom and the bathroom.  I just worked on my husband’s and will post that in the next few weeks, but my closet redo is {here}{here}, and {here}.  I painted everything pale pink and added a silver glaze in a harlequin diamond pattern.   I also added a chandelier and lots of other girlie touches.  I love how it turned out, and I think this might be the room I’ll miss the most when we move.

Now we’ll move upstairs.  I wanted to rip the carpet off these bad boys and do beadboard risers like my friends Steve & Robyn did {here}, but I ran out of time.  I do love the painted banister, though–it really pops against the gray walls.  Amy gave me the candelabra at the top of the stairs.  We swap stuff all the time to mix things up.

We have four rooms upstairs:  my daughter’s room, my son’s room, the guest room, and the bonus room.  My daughter’s room has been changed up slightly since the last post {here} on it; we painted her iron headboard again.  I swear, it’s some sort of OCD disorder with me (one of many, my husband is thinking as he reads this…).

Aqua, brown, and pink girl's room at 11 Magnolia Lane

The DIY ballet barre has been a huge hit with her; it will probably have to move to Savannah with us.

My son’s room looks a lot like it did in our old house in North Carolina {here}.  I do love the old World War II footlocker that he uses as a nightstand.  It was his great-grandfather’s.

Boys' nightstand at 11 Magnolia Lane

The gumball machine is frequently running low thanks to my two kids and their friends in the neighborhood.  The Coke crate holds a few loose Legos, although video games and Minecraft are taking over at this age!

Boys' room at 11 Magnolia Lane

Here’s the guest room (aka the “hodgepodge room”–we all have one!).  You can read about the anniversay pillow slipcovers {here}.  Also in this room is the old entertainment center that I painted green, although it’s not in this shot (you can see a tiny bit of it in the mirror).

Guest room at 11 Magnolia Lane

My teeny-tiny craft and sewing area is on the wall.  I posted about it {here}, although since then I have painted the sewing machine table and chair white.  I keep the Rustoleum people in business singlehandedly!

Small craft and sewing area at 11 Magnolia Lane

We also have a bonus room, and I’ll show it to you, but don’t judge, OK?  It’s where the kids play video games (and even board games, sometimes), and I haven’t done much with it.

Bonus room 11 Magnolia Lane

Oops, I forgot that there is a bathroom up here–the urchins are not using my gorgeous master bath!  I posted about the board and batten treatment I did {here} and if you’re at all handy, then I highly recommend this easy project.  My kids will hang towels up on hooks, but just drop them on the floor when confronted with a towel bar.  Who needs that?

Board and batten kids bath at 11 Magnolia LaneThe only other area that I’ve wanted to show you for ages is our walk-in storage off the bonus room.  Half of it is packed full of boxes (Christmas ornaments, old photos, etc), but the other half is my daughter’s play area for her dolls.  All of her American Girl dolls and their tiny furniture are set up, and since the door shuts on whatever she’s done, she never has to clean it up.  Of course, that’s why we’ve never shared it with you, as it has yet to be neat enough to photograph!

I’m so glad you stopped by for a home tour–I enjoyed having it neat enough for a few brief moments to share it with you (kids! dogs! cat! hamster! laundry!).

The Guest Bath

**Before I begin, don’t miss our current giveaway for vinyl house numbers…CLICK HERE TO ENTER**

I am wrapping up my home tour {since our home is for sale I have been doing a lot of photographing/staging etc.} with one last tiny little room. This was actually the first room I painted and decorated right when we moved in so our guests had a nice little bathroom to use. And I think that among our first guests was Christy and family? So I really wanted it to be a nicer space then it was when we started!

Here is the plain, builder grade before:

So here are a few photos, its a small room and hard to photograph with no natural light and a camera in desperate need of some rehab at the Nikon factory, but here it is…the last little stop on my Home Tour. {click if you would like to see the whole tour}.

Our Family Room

chair side

Like Christy, I am gathering all my room photos together so we can prepare our home to be on the market. This room, while it’s probably our “most used” room, seems to always lag behind other rooms on my “to-do” list, and therefore really has never been shown to ‘the world’ here.

If we weren’t moving, I would paint the room to warm it up, but for now we are leaving it white. We chose a very neutral color scheme inside this home–dark floors, white walls, white kitchen. I know many of you prefer to see more “color” in rooms, but we designed this house during a crazy, stress-filled time in our lives {if you have met my daughter, you understand!} and I craved quiet in our new home. We also didn’t want the inside decor to take away from the pretty view of the lake outside.

My future decor plans include a custom cushion for the chest shown above. Also, reworking the couch pillows and painting our entertainment center. That will all happen after we get done touch-up painting and the pre-move purging finished {then pack, move, unpack etc.} I suppose!

{Amy’s} Updated House Tour

One of the nicest parts of blogging is that I have a permanent record of all the houses I have {recently} lived in. Of course the reason I haven’t shown every room in our current house is because every room hasn’t been whipped into ‘perfect’ blog-worthy shape.

However, I have done some updates and the time has come to pull some photos together in one place. We’ve been in this house over a year now, and while I still have a long list of things I hope to do, we’ve come a long way from our move-in day.

So the first thing you notice about our home is the large front porch and the pretty lake we live on. Here it is decorated for spring–I can’t wait for warmer weather to arrive here so we can enjoy this space again.

In the front door…

To our front hall with the forever in-progress Gallery Wall.

 On one side of the stairs is our Dining Room with its blue ceiling. {Read more HERE}

Through the hallway to the left is our Butler’s Pantry {Read more HERE}.

Behind the Butler’s Pantry is our little Guest Bathroom and guest room.

Across the hall is my Office. {Read more HERE}

Down the hall into the Family Room, here is a picture since I haven’t posted about the entire room yet.

The family room is across from our kitchen {Read all about our kitchen HERE}.

And our adjoining breakfast room with the $30 hutch I remade, you can also read about how we did our open shelving HERE.

Heading upstairs you will find our daughter’s room {Read more HERE}.

And our laundry room {Read more HERE}.

Here is one of our upstairs bathrooms, this was such a fun project {Read more HERE}.

Here is a shot of our boys’ room. They used to share it, but we recently separated them so their rooms are also still ‘in progress’.

Here is a picture of our Master Bedroom {Read the ‘in progress’ post HERE}

So, thanks for hanging in for all that! Since you did, I am going to share a little secret. A few weeks ago, after much consideration my husband and I have listed this home for sale.

Without boring you with details, we have loved living in it, putting our spin on it, and living both on a lake and near the beach, but this area isn’t our home. And the time is right for us to return to what is home in our hearts, where we have family to lean on and dear friends to enjoy.

{So, if you know anyone looking for a house in Virginia Beach please send ‘em my way! 11magnolialane@gmail.com}

In the meantime, the focus of my home projects has shifted a bit and we’re actively searching for our next {and hopefully forever} house. I am excited at the thought of having a new home to decorate, and expect that will mean I will have plenty to share!

Thank you, as always, for stopping by.

Be Fearless Feature–Eclectically Vintage

***First, the winner of the hand-stamped silver necklace from Pure Gratitude is comment #54–Gabi.  Gabi, we’ve emailed you already so check your inbox.  Congratulations!***

We just knew we’d have a ball with Kelly from Eclectically Vintage when we started swapping martini recipes at a Twitter party a few weeks back.

Her style is fresh, unique and fun fun FUN! We love how she mixes old with new, vintage with modern, and quirky with high-end– and it works perfectly!

We wanted to do a feature to share Kelly’s fabulous decor style with you, but after taking a closer look at her decor we decided she should be part of our “fearless” series.

For the Fearless series, we usually select bloggers who aren’t afraid to tear down a wall in their home by themselves or use a power saw, but we think Kelly is so fearless in her decor style she deserves a mention here, too.

With so much eye candy in blogland, it’s easy to forget a room you love shortly after you see it, but her kitchen is just simply unforgettable.

What a beautiful blend of custom cabinets, amazing {and so creative} wine jug lights, marble counters and herringbone tile which she blended perfectly together.

And, of course, the perfect red stove–I am too jealous to go on…

Make sure to pay Kelly a visit! She makes these adorable stamped silver spoons in her ETSY store too.

And, one last thing…Kelly, we’ll meet you on your fabulous patio for some of those martinis as soon as the weather warms up, K?

XO,

Amy

Organizing and Projects Recap

Hello, and welcome to everyone who has jumped over from I {Heart} Organizing today. We couldn’t be more honored to be featured there today!

We are three friends who started blogging together almost two years ago, just for fun, and since then it has grown into a great way to stay motivated, creative and productive. Christy and Amy both moved to new homes this year and have been working hard to make them feel like home.  Today we thought we’d recap some of our favorite 11 Magnolia Lane projects.

{You can view a shared tour of our homes HERE}.

Before we jump into our home projects, if you have never seen our In the Kitchen with 11 Magnolia Lane series, take a look while you are here. Its probably our best organizing tool–because it answers the “what’s for dinner?” daily dilemma with menus, recipes and shopping lists designed to keep you from feeling crazed every evening. Terry comes up with a healthy, delicious menu each season, so the new Fall menu will be coming soon.

Back to some inspirational eye candy… since this pantry seems to be a Pinterest favorite, we’ll start here. Christy tackled her small pantry in her historic NC home, not only organizing it but jazzing it up with ribbon, chalkboard decals for shopping lists and mason jars to contain her staples.

Another great idea from Christy’s old kitchen was this week-at-a-glance wall calendar, made from peel and stick chalkboard panels.  What a great way to keep the week’s events front and center!

Wall Calendar

Week at a Glance Wall Calendar

Then, after relocating to Tennessee, she didn’t let wire shelves get in the way of making her New Pantry just as pretty as the rest of her newly redone kitchen. {Her complete kitchen makeover is here, Part 1 and Part 2}. And, we all agree every pantry needs a chandelier! Right?

Shortly after moving in and overhauling her kitchen, Christy tackled her new laundry room, you can see that post HERE.

Terry also undertook a major project earlier this year, turning unused space in her basement into her Kids’ Learning Center. It’s tucked right next to her desk/workspace so the kids have a dedicated area to work on homework and art projects away from the rest of the house.

As Jen mentioned, Amy just finished a huge project. Her Mom’s recent birthday gift was a makeover of her basement work/craft/sewing room. The complete post on that project is HERE.

Thank you for visiting with us today, and thanks again, Jen, for featuring us. We hope you will stop by 11 Magnolia Lane and visit with us again soon!

An Organization Home Tour by Ashli at Mini Manor

Having finally cleared out the boxes from our move in last fall (is the statute of limitations finally up on using “recently moved” as an excuse for all my incomplete house projects? :) ) I have been going back through the house and really organizing things. We have had to adjust to our new but smaller space (especially as far as storage in the kitchen) and its making me really focus on keeping only what I need and use.

I recently discovered Ashli at Mini Manor’s wonderful Blog, and after spending hours (at least it seemed like) staring at all her beautifully organized spaces and getting truly inspired by her, I decided to see if she would be kind enough to share some of her spaces here at Magnolia Lane. I was thrilled when she said Yes.

So here is Ashli, she is just the greatest, read on down (and then go check out her Blog) and I know you will agree!

 ********

I am thrilled to be on Eleven Magnolia Lane today. Thank you so much Amy for asking me, and thank you Christy and Terry for having me too. Blogging with your best girlfriends sounds like so much fun, I am completely jealous of you three.

My name is Ashli and I blog over at Mini Manor. I live in British Columbia with my husband and our fur baby Max, I believe our homes should be organized, simplified and green and I spend my mornings blogging about just that.

Amy asked me if I would share some of our organizing solutions with you, so here are some of the solutions we found for our home.

First, the room in everyone’s home that can benefit the most from some serious organization . . . the Kitchen!

I have a large cookbook collection, I decided that it would make more sense to store the cookbooks in the kitchen where they get used, so I lined the top shelf with over 100 cookbooks.

Also,

Our cabinets go up 9 feet in the air so sometimes I needed a little help reaching the top shelf, we installed pull down shelves made by Rubbermaid, a really quick and easy solution.

A couple of cork tiles, on the inside of the cabinet door beside the stove, holds recipes I find and plan on trying, if it’s a good one it goes into the recipe book, if it was bad I throw it out.

I always found it difficult to organize pots and pans. I had them nesting inside each other which ended up scratching their surfaces. We found these organizers at Lowes and they’re awesome. They keep everything tidy and easy to access.
My Tupperware cupboard was always in disarray. We had 5 different types of containers, none of which stacked up nicely together. We finally invested in the same glass containers and now they stack up easily, no more hunting for a lid.
While I love to cook . . . sometimes the answer to what’s for dinner is Take-Out. I used one of Martha Stewart’s plastic pockets to hold our take out menus inside of our pantry cupboard.
And speaking of the pantry cupboard, we have deep pantry cabinets so to take advantage of all the depth we installed pull out shelves for our dry goods. The shelves were around $15 each and totally worth it. Underneath the baskets we store our baking goods. I use simple plastic containers from Ikea, BPA free of course.
And lastly, our knife/Spice Drawer. I’m a stickler when it comes to knives, they need to be SHARP. A great knife organizer is so important. I’m also a stickler for clear countertops so an in-drawer spice rack was a great find for us. The labels are from Staples, they are part of Martha’s new line.
Moving out of the kitchen now, I recently organized my desk cupboard. I figured since it was totally covered up, and it was mine (no husbands allowed) why not make it PINK.
Another area of our house that is always in desperate need of organization is our mudroom! A simple shelving system from Home Depot, or a inexpensive bench from Ikea, makes a world of difference in a small space.
And finally the super easy organizer, that has made my morning routine 10 times easier . . . these jewelry organizers we made out of Cutlery Trays and Cup hooks.
I hope you enjoyed our Organization Home Tour! Please pop by and say HI, you can find us at www.MiniManorBlog.com.
A BIG Thank You to the Eleven Magnolia Lane girls, Amy, Christy and Terry for having me on today! I’ve never done an organization house tour before . . . It might be my new favorite house tour ;) .
*****************

I will be back soon to show some of my newly organized spaces, many of which were inspired by Ashli. We are so thrilled she came by 11 Magnolia Lane and shared here today. She has so much more on her Blog, so stop over and visit her.

Have a great weekend and a Happy Mother’s Day… I am heading up to celebrate my belated birthday with Terry and share Mother’s Day with my Mom and I can’t wait.

Thanks for stopping by~

Tracey’s Home Tour {part two}

We are back, as promised, with more of our friend Tracey’s pretty home. If you missed part one, click HERE to see her recent kitchen renovation.

She has such great style we took some pictures in some of her other rooms while we were there photographing the kitchen. We thought we needed to share a few more of her inspiring rooms.

This is her Living Room. She actually recovered her former gray couch with a white Ikea slipcover, and no, her original couch wasn’t from Ikea…with just some minor modification to the hidden parts of the slipcover, she made it work perfectly with her existing furniture.

She has decorated much of her room from finds at Target (like the chair) or Homegoods (the barrel sidetable shown above).

Love the pop of pink from the flowers mixing with the metallic green pillow, and here is a peak at their cute canine, Dash.

She recently (after we were there)  got this great ottoman from where else? Target! She emailed us a picture so we could see the update, and here it is.

Here is the view into her Dining Room from the attached Living Room…

This was your standard, brass, builder light fixture. She sprayed it black, added shades and a sparkly cord cover. Huge difference!

She has a talent for mixing the same color scheme throughout her rooms, there are pops of the green from the kitchen color scheme in her gray, white and black dining room. She has great styling and pretty vignettes throughout her entire home.

Moving across the home to their home office, I LOVE this gray and orange space. I have to say, reading back I thought to myself I would never expected to say that I am a fan of that color scheme, but it really works. She worked with a passed-down loveseat and integrated the orange/peach tones with dark gray walls, classic white shelving and colorful artwork.

I wonder if she has anymore rooms for us to show!? Maybe she will have us back again :)

Thanks Tracey for allowing us into your home and to share it here at Magnolia Lane.

House Tour–Tracey’s Gorgeous New Kitchen

We are lucky enough to have some very talented friends, and we thought this kitchen makeover was too good not to share.

This is our friend Tracey. She has been mentioned many times on our Blog, just not by name. For some reason, I always say things like “I was talking to a friend” or “My friend said” because we talk a lot about decorating and she has great taste, so here she is in real life:

She has great style–fun, colorful, fresh and she’s made her house amazing on a budget. In fact, we came to photograph her kitchen but wound up taking pictures of several rooms, so we’ll be back with her Dining Room, Living Room and Office in a Part 2 post.

Here is the “Before” of her kitchen. This renovation is close to my heart because she had the same cabinets I had in my former home and wanted desperately to paint.  Tracey and her handy husband recently tackled remaking their standard kitchen into something really fun and beautiful.

And (drumroll….) is the AFTER!

They painted their maple cabinets, added new granite counters, hardware and lighting–including converting recessed cans to pendants and added under cabinet lighting.

Here are some pretty pictures~

She has such appealing accessories and vignettes.

We loved that Dash, the dog, has his own treat “Bar”

You can also see the under cabinet lighting a bit in this picture.

Here is the great in-process shot of the lighting going in. Since I have known them, Tracey’s husband has completely finished their basement, redone bathrooms and built their deck (a full story off the ground).  He is very, very “handy”, as you can tell.

While they intended to do the painting of the cabinets themselves, and even followed Christy’s Tutorial on painting cabinets HERE. They had some issues with paint on the doors, and wound up having the doors sprayed professionally–a great timesaver, and they look great.

I really want a cute Pantry sign like this now too.

Thanks Tracey, for letting us share your makeover! Did you like it? We’ll be back with more of her cute house, so stay tuned either by Facebook or Linky or Email Subscription.

11 Magnolia Lane’s Best Holiday Home Tour EVER–Part 2!!

Remember that I left you hanging in the Audrey Hepburn room last time?  Well, as promised, here’s part 2 of the tour of my friend Andrea’s amazing home in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.  You can take a look at Part 1 of her holiday home tour here.  Just a reminder, this is military housing (!) she has worked these wonders with! Also, take a peek at her Facebook page for her shop, Mildred & Mable’s, located in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee (do you have any really last-minute shopping to do, still?  I do!!).  We’ll be hosting a M&M’s giveaway shortly; in fact, I’ll be at the shop this week picking out something wonderful to offer our followers.  Can’t wait!

I’m going to show you a ton of pictures and not “talk” too much; they speak for themselves.  There are a lot of pictures so it may take awhile to load, but I promise you that it’s worth it.  I will finish up with pictures of the front of her house, which might seem backwards, but they’re worth waiting for.  So, without further ado, back to Andrea’s office/closet/boudoir.  This used to be a playroom for her two girls, but Mama’s taken it over now! :)

Open shelving and mannequins artfully display jewelry.

The Tiffany boxes under the tree are a great touch–I never throw mine away either because they’re so pretty, and now I know what to do with them.  By the way, the open cubbies you see in the picture are actually on the opposite wall–they’re reflected in the collection of mirrors on the wall behind the mannequin and the Tiffany tree.

Below is her desk area–what a great place to make buying decisions for the store!

Love the open steamer trunk on the floor.

You are so classy, Audrey!

There are two towers of open cubbies on either side of the bench. Andrea knows a wonderful gentleman who can make anything she can dream up.

I just love this room–it’s so glamorous!

Just a quick shot of the stair landing–I never would have thought to have put a piece here, but it looks great.

Check out the “Family” saying on the wall–black vinyl on top of the wall that was simply painted a darker color and framed out.  Easy instant artwork!

Andrea’s girls share a bathroom and they just had their decor updated to hot pink, black and white–Paris chic.  Take a look at how she handled the big plate glass mirror below–you can’t pull those down in military housing, so she simply hung two frames.  I never would have thought to do it, but it works great.  Can you see the darling flower chandelier in the reflection?

These mosquito netting and tulle canopies are pretty easy to find at garage sales, and what a great idea to hang one in the water closet–why not?

Here’s her younger daughter’s room:

Did you see the book racks on the wall next to both beds?  I love those!  Ikea used to sell a spice rack that doubled as a book rack, but they just discontinued them.  I am desolate.

Here’s her own lavender tree…

Check out the chenille bedspread that was repurposed as a window treatment.

Vinyl initials adhered directly to the wall are “framed”.  I can’t remember if Andrea painted all the white circles on the wall or used vinyl, but if you wanted to do a similar treatment, either would work (vinyl would be faster and easier, but more expensive unless you have your own machine).

Here’s her older daughter’s room.  I think she’s about to get a total room redo, so we’ll try to do a feature on that when it happens.

I love the striped walls behind the bed

This room sports a beautiful pink tree:

Now a few shots from Andrea’s bedroom and bathroom…

Andrea's husband went to West Point--isn't this a great old cadet uniform?

Even the top of the armoire is sporting eye candy!

Every bedroom needs a Christmas tree!

This is the small hall between Andrea’s master bedroom and en suite bathroom.  Just by using a tension rod and filmy curtains, she defined the space and made it special and glamorous.  That gorgeous vintage chandelier, mirror, and architectural piece above the doorway complete the look.

I don’t normally share so many shots of water closets, but her decor is so clever in here that I can’t resist.  The next two pictures are in the WC area of her master bath.

Here’s another great use of a tension rod and a repurposed vintage bedspread.

I can see Ellen cleaning in this picture–the tour of homes was that night and she was scrambling to get the house pristine before all the ladies arrived.  Thanks for letting me shoot around you, Ellen!

The last thing I’m going to show you is the front of Andrea’s house, just like I promised.  The grapevine, threaded with clear twinkle lights, is one of her signature decorating accents and looks wonderful above her front door.

As you can see, Andrea has made their military quarters into an absolute showplace, with a perfect mixture of elegance and whimsy.  I hope you all enjoyed the tour as much as I enjoyed showing it to you.  Andrea, thank you for opening your home to us!

Thanks for stopping by–and Merry Christmas, y’all!
