My little boy just turned six and what does every six year old boy love…. Star Wars. We had a dress up Star Wars birthday party for my son Gavin and I think it turned out great.
Even though I am en event planner, I try to keep my kids parties simple and inexpensive. I search the web for idea’s and usually come up with a few of my own.
Here are a few shots from his party this past weekend as well as some helpful and inexpensive DIY tips.
Since I didn’t want to buy custom toppers I had to get creative. I found an old star wars sticker book that my son had completed and forgotten about. I cut out all the figures. and simply taped a tooth pick to the back of them. I think his Yoda green cup cakes with Star Wars character toppers came out pretty cool. The kids loved picking which cup cake they wanted and I had plenty of options to keep all the kids happy with there selection.
The food signs were created by printing a few pictures of Star Wars characters off the Internet. I love the sparkle silver paper from Jo-Ann Fabrics. That particular paper was under $1.00 so I stayed within my budget and purchased 4 sheets. I also cut a paper black cup in half, made a slit on either side of the bottom created a stand to hold the sign.
The most expensive purchase was the life sized Darth Vader. This was also a gift for my son as he wants a Star Wars themed bedroom (he really thinks Darth is cool). You can also use it for a game of “Pin the light saber on Darth”. It did cost me $38.00 from a on-line store but I am please with the quality, it shipped quickly and it did manage to stay in tack after 15 kids attacked it with their LED light sabers.
Well, I know there is a ton of inspiration for Star Wars parties out there, I hope you enjoy my budget friendly, DIY version.
