The last few weeks of winter are SO hard, I think we’re all ready for spring to arrive, am I the only one? We are having some great weather here this weekend so it makes it all the harder to think about the return of cold temperatures before spring really sets in here in Virginia. Though this winter hasn’t been too rough weather-wise though, so really I shouldn’t complain.
I haven’t been able to resist starting some spring shopping in anticipation, there are some really cute things out there right now {and some great sales}. I found a few new transitional-type pieces, it is nice to have some new things at the end of winter that can carry you into the warmer months. At this time of year it’s easy to get in a wardrobe rut, I found my uniform was pretty much consisting of Ugg’s, a sweater and jeans every day, it was definitely getting a little old. I decided to make a little extra effort, I find it helps my mood during these short gray days when I try to wear fun things!
Here are some ideas to update your winter wardrobe to carry you through these last few gray weeks…
Vest {similar} and love this one! | Shirt | Belt | Jeans | Necklace | Boots
This was actually my attempt at a Valentine’s Day outfit, I don’t wear a lot of red so I went with pink, and this bright pink necklace makes the outfit so much more interesting. I know these are hard to find–they seem to sell out as soon as we link to them–but this eBay seller has some in stock. I get compliments every time I wear it, it’s definitely a fun piece!
shirt | pants | boots | necklace | bracelets | belt
The no-white-after-Labor-day rule seems to be one that is OK to break nowadays. I wear white corduroys in the winter since it is still fairly cold here, but if you live in a warmer area breaking out white jeans instead of traditional denim lightens up an outfit and gives you a different look than traditional denim. This belt has finally been restocked and is a great knock-off of this Kate Spade one.
This top is on sale for $20 and is such a great find, I love that you can dress it up or down. Anything that I can start off wearing with it with yoga pants then add jeans and a necklace to dress it up to go out and about later is a win for me! It is super-comfortable and flattering too.
shirt | jacket | pants | boots | necklace | belt
This is one of my favorite outfits for those almost warm days, when it is not quite spring, but not winter either. This fun necklace takes everything up a notch, it was a bit out of my comfort zone at first because of the size but now I love the impact it has. It definitely gives a casual outfit a ton of style, I am looking forward to wearing it in the summer with dresses or even to dress up plain t-shirts. I have been wearing the ruffled t-shirt constantly under cardigans this winter, it is almost sold out but the updated spring version is HERE.
top | pants | booties {similar} | clutch | necklace
Sleeves–bell shaped, ruffles and cold-shoulder– are all the thing for spring fashion. This shirt was only $26 (shipped) so I scooped it up. It is really cute and will be a great spring shirt, though I wore it under a sweater vest recently for a more cold-weather look. This clutch is always a fun accent, I pretty much use it every time I go out {see “add leopard” below!}. Open-toe booties are another hot thing right now, I wore mine out last night and they were a really fun way to dress up rather than just putting on the same boots I have been wearing all winter long.
Tunic | Shoes | Pants | Necklace
You can see I am leaning pretty far in on the leopard accent trend here but it just makes an outfit so more fun. I believe that like a little black dress, a pair of leopard pumps will take you far in life 🙂 and with pink it is such a fun combination for late winter/early spring. {more on this outfit in this post HERE}.
Be sure to pay attention to sales and coupon codes this weekend because of the holiday–there are a ton of great sales right now. Nordstrom has their Winter Sale going on with tons of great discounts. If you shop at Loft {like my $12 necklace above!} they have 40% off and 50% off Sale this weekend and at GAP/Old Navy has 40% off.
With all that shopping talk, I am heading outside! It is supposed to be in the 70’s in Virginia today (in February, WHAT?) so we’re taking full advantage. Have a great day everyone!
